We visited Fall Creek Falls and stayed in the Inn. The rooms were pet friendly and very clean, although very plain. However, the view and the activities available well made up for it. We were lake front, near enough to fish from our balcony. The views and the fog on the lake in early morning was fabulous! There are a lot of nature type activities inside the park, as well as the falls themselves. There is a restaurant in the inn, but no nearby restaurants or stores outside of the park nearby. So, be sure and bring what you are going to need because once you are there, your are out of luck on options. The camping area is very nice and fire wood is provided. Beautiful in fall! A must see for the nature lover or fisherman!

My husband and I took a quick trip up to this park last weekend and it was amazing! We hiked the trail to the big falls because the overlook road was closed due to snow and ice but it was well worth the hike. It would have been nice if the hiking trails were marked with how far it was to each falls instead of just the name because we hiked a little further than we wanted too but otherwise it was beautiful! There were lots of public bathrooms available too which is something you don't see at every park. Can't wait to go back and take the whole family!! Lots of things to do here for every outdoor lover!

There is a lot to do at the park if you're a nature lover or a swimmer and is covered sport-wise as well. There's plenty of nice challenging physical activities to choose from but only if you choose to take the challenge. Its a fun place to go to relax , or if you just want the change of scenery. I'm not much of a swimmer and find no enjoyment in doing so , but the park has many different swimming options as well. Its really peaceful and you should try it out if you ever find your self incredibly stressed it might just be what you need.

This park is lovely. We visited in late Jan early Feb. It was cold, and we rented a 3 bedroom villa right on the lake. The view was fabulous. It was too cold to be outside on the balcony though. The park furnished wood for the wood burning fireplace which we enjoyed. Signs are not clear, so we got lost at first. The Inn was closed for renovation; thankfully I found that out before we went, and brought lots of food to cook in the cabin. Cooking supplies are barely adequate, dishes are in good supply, but no dishwasher, so with a lot of cooking you will be doing a lot of washing. Three ice cube trays were supplied, they all leaked, no ice, bring ice if you like it for your drinks. Bring paper towels, and extra scrubbers for pans. The cabin was clean, needed some repairs, but it is a cabin after all. Nothing bothered us, it needed paint, a door or two were sticking, nothing huge. There are lots of steps down to the cabins, not really friendly for the elderly or the disabled. My adult children hiked and they thought it was really pretty. My Dad and I did go to the overlook for the falls, and it is a lovely view. I would go again, and I would rent a cabin again. All in all a nice park.

These falls are beautiful! They have multiple falls & they are all breathtaking. It is on the offbeat trails that you will find the best views. Definately a must see when visiting Tennessee!

My family and I stayed here on our way to the Smoky Mountains and had a great time! Our room was just your usual State Park accommodations. The real star is the park. There are many trails to hike and a cool waterfall that you can wade out to. We had breakfast and dinner in the Lodge and it was good. Will definitely return!

Very enjoyable hiking to the bottom of the falls. Something the whole family could enjoy. The swimming was exhilarating and fun. Unfortunately we did not get to stay as long as we wanted as the weather was very rainy.

If you plan to visit Tennessee, please check out the natural wonder of Fall Creek Falls state park! You will not believe how very beautiful this huge waterfall is as well as the wilderness areas, camping areas, hotel and commendations. I try to go once a year to take photos and enjoy. The food is very good in the restaurant, too !

My wife and I visited on Nov 24th, 2014. Although it was a little out of our way on our trip to Atlanta via Chattanooga from Virginia Beach, we're glad we went and intend to return the next time we're in the area. Our GPS had no problem directing us to the park. We arrived a day after a heavy rain so the falls were very full and impressive. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for the changing of the leaves but since most had fallen this made taking pictures of the falls a little easier. We intend to visit next time either when the trees are full or are changing with the fall colors. The park contains several trails, three major falls, a lake, and inn with all rooms facing the lake, fishing and other cabins, places to camp, a zip line course and other amenities. The Inn is moderately priced and is well appointed. We did not get a chance to stay but did look at the rooms in case our future visits allow us to stay longer. For the more physically fit, I'm sure you would enjoy the trails or if you're like me and not as fit it is easy to drive to the various sites and take pictures or just enjoy the beauty of the park. I would add some of our photos but there are already several high quality photos already available on this site. I highly recommend it.

We went there twice in August. It's a great place for a day visit. Walking trails of various difficulty levels, an opportunity to swim in several places, many spots with beautiful views accessible by car. So even when it's bad weather the visit can be enjoyable. Plan at least a day for the visit (or come overnight).

This park needs to be at the top of everyone's day trip list. Free State Park! It is only 1 1/2 from Chattanooga and worth every minute of the car ride. There are 5 water falls in the park. All of them accessible with in a short walk from the parking lot. We entered the park at the main entrance on the north side of the park off of Hwy 30 onto Hwy 284 through the park. We parked at the Betty Dunn Nature Center. From this parking lot you can access beautiful views of three water falls. Great for everyone except maybe a wheel chair. Nice wide and level walk ways around the Nature Center but Stairs to access to The Cascades on Cane Creek. Then really steep rock steps to the fantastic view over the Cane Creek Falls. We started our hike here. You can get a great map and directions at the Nature Center also you can download the map from the website. According to my Fitbit we walked all the trails on the map and went about 5 miles. All the trails are great and I would rate them easy to moderate. The most difficult trail is the Falls Creek trail to the base of the falls. It is 300 feet down and little less a mile round trip. We took a break here and ate lunch then hiked back to our car. The best water fall for those with mobility issues would be Fall Creek Falls. It is also the easiest to access from the parking lot. It's walkway has only a slight incline from the parking lot to the walkway and then right out to the view of the falls. The tallest east of the Rockies. May sure you drive Gorge Scenic Drive and stop at Piney Falls. Buzzard Roost Lookout is worth a stop. We spend the day at the park but if you just wanted to look fast and go, you could see all the water falls in an hour!

The hikes are not too difficult and you can rest along the way, there are swinging bridges, waterfalls, natural bridges, and caves to explore. Overnight camping by permit is allowed.

A friend recommended Fall Creek Falls State Park as one of her favorite places to visit for its beauty and tranquility. She was right! And it is amazing that when you are visiting Nashville, this incredible beauty is literally less than 2 hours away!We did check out reviews before we went just to get an idea of what the area was like. It is a State Park and very natural so amenities that you have come to expect may be missing and we understand that. Nevertheless, if you approach your "leaf-peeping," sight-seeing and choices for hiking or driving with careful consideration, you will not be disappointed. We missed the peak autumn colors by about 10 days but it was still breathtaking and there was still plenty of vibrancy to the landscape. We are also getting older and not as spry as we once were so we chose to drive the scenic loop as well as walk some of the paths at the overlooks and other areas. Paths can be challenging but, again, you know best what your own skills and limitations are. There is no disgrace in turning around and saying, "Nope, not going to try this!" So to those who complained in other reviews about rough paths, odd stair design, etc., just use common sense! Also, we noticed some complaints about the volume of water coming over the falls. Sorry but this compels us to include another reminder. The water that fills the rivers, streams and lakes that generate those falls comes from springs AND rainfall so a period of no rain for even just a few days can reduce the velocity and volume of water thundering over the falls. Again, common sense prevails. The falls are still gorgeous no matter when you visit. We ate lunch at the restaurant at the lodge. It was reasonably priced, the food was pretty good and we were pleasantly surprised that they give you a choice of buffet or menu which is nice for those who do not have ravenous appetites. We always temper our reviews with a good dose of reality so here are our "could use some improvement" comments:1. Maps - Although their maps are okay, today's GPS technology could be used to make them more to-scale so that maps more accurately represent what the roads and paths are really like.2. Signage - It is nice to have the rustic, wood, carved signs but they need to be more informative along the roadway. We are excellent map readers but since the maps are not that precise, it can be confusing as to how to actually get to the places you are trying to reach. Being there on a weekday was an advantage because it was not very crowded so backing up (on one way roads) or turning around was not a big deal.3 - Shopping Options - The General Store is very nice with a lot of supply's for both campers and day-visitors but the Gift Shop in the Lodge is quite small so it may discourage the typical browsing that might generate additional revenue for the Park. That's all we can say that is even remotely negative so go and enjoy Fall Creek Falls State Park. It is lovely, awe-inspiring, relaxing, everything you expect from the wonders of nature.

We did see the fall, but it was not what we had expected from all the hype. A trickle, didn't seem that tall, and the angle from the viewing platform was poor. Then, we took what was suppose to be an easy trail, and found that the stairs are boxes of wood filled with gravel! My elderly mother fell down! Then it was impossible to get a ranger. We were not able to get around easily, signage left much to be desired, and we will not go back. The buffet was wonderful, but I have to say, TN does not keep its parks up well, or right.
