world of beer

After hearing glowing reviews from friends in Stamford about the delicious pretzel with beer cheese sauce we decided to brave the blowing snow and make the treck from downtown Stamford to Harbor Point - apx. 1.4 miles. We walked in at apx. 11:30 AM yesterday. There were no customers - and 4-5 employees (one appeared to be off the clock, but in work clothes at the bar). We were not greeted. We decided to sit at the bar - apparently the bartender/server in the area we sat in, was much more interested in his cell phone texting than greeting us. When he did come over, I mentioned it was our first time in. He did show my husband how to look up the different beers, then walked away. No waters offered, didn't ask me if I wanted a beverage - nothing. Eventually, he brought over menu's - still no waters so hubby asked for two waters with lemon - and ordered a beer - he walked off - didn't ask still if I wanted anything (weird). Finally, he brought the waters, no lemons and husbands beer. At this time, I asked if I could have a glass of wine. The wine is apx. $1 an once on average - high, but we liked the atmosphere, so why not. We then ordered the pretzel we came for and started looking over the menu. He again, went and chatted with the off duty employee, texted, etc. Knowing we had never been in the restaurant - he made no recommendations and really didn't seem all that interested. The manager was seen several times, but never made eye contact either. OK, back to the food - the pretzel is very large but for $11 (if you get the beer cheese) one would expect it to be and very tasty. We thought the quality was good, however the cheese sauce arrives luke warm to chilly, would be much better hot. It appears they have live bands on Friday and Saturday nights based on the boards on the wall. Seriously, this is a relatively new restaurant bar NOT in downtown Stamford, it's winter and business is slow. I can't say it was bad service, it just didn't make an impression of "I have to go back". We still tipped 20%. I think the best thing about this spot is the crazy selection of beers - however don't expect any suggestions or waiters that attempt to help with the food menu.

There are a fabulous collection of beer here. The customer service is solid. Will definitely go there again.

Have been here many times for drinks. The beer selection is great. The service is usually good, but we do find that it is hard to get a waiter's attention to cash out. Better to pay as you go and not run a tab if you want to be able to leave when you want. Good bands. Great crowd.

Went there 8/20/14 and ordered 3 beers and get tab for $36.75 or $12.25 per beer.... My first reaction is "Wow, that is expensive...So I look at the menu and it says $8.25. His reply was ...." oh, there are some typos on the menu." Eventually the manager comes overs and refunds me the difference..No real apology just that she will refund this round.... Did not stay for a 2nd round....Place is very nice but Management leaves a bit to be desired
