We stopped by the cemetery after visiting the Road to Tara Museum. My mom and I have always found cemeteries interesting and this was no exception. The design of the stones as the confederate flag, the ages of some of the soldiers when they died, the different states and regiments represented. Worth a stop if history interests you.

Had no idea the cemetery was there but toured it and got the history behind it. The kids were very interested it in. A great history lesson.

Unless you are a Civil War buff you may be disappointed. Named after the Irishman who came to the States after the Potato Famine, Cleburne defended the City of Jonesboro immediately before the fall of Atlanta. Of interest is the fact that its location is such that the Union Hospital established at the Warren House overlooked the burial site of the Confederates.

This was a stop on a tour from the Road to Tara museum. It was interesting to see how it was laid out in the form of a conferederate flag.

Located in the historical district of old Jonesboro, the cemetery holds the remains of hundreds of unknown soldiers who died during the Battle of Jonesboro. It is a very humbling place to visit.

Well maintained, interesting information was provided on our Belles and Whistles tour about how the names of these confederate soldiers are located.

I drive past this graveyard often as it is near my jobsite and went again today to make sure we were on the same page. While the confederate graveyard is a local landmark: ie " The railroad tracks are closed over by The Confederate Graveyard" I have never thought of it as an attraction. I have taken my children there, usually around Halloween to read the old dates and see the beautifully decaying stonework. But an attraction REALLY???????
