These Egadi Islands have such a great mix of incredible colors - the water, sky, stone, plants - that I wished I was a painter! But for us mortals there is the nice, relaxed attitude of the people as well as their excellent cooking to be enjoyed. As already said by others, rent a bike. I find electrically assisted quite nice, with it I made it around the island and even (almost) up to the Santa Caterina fort for an overview! Cala Rossa is pure emerald, a bit further east there are gigantic un-natural caves, where the tufo stone used to be cut out of the hillside. Later at the table be courageous and try some raw tuna, if available: a delicacy! Tuna roe (Botarga) over a plate of pasta or tuna once more, as polpette (meat-balls, made out of fish, words fail me) cooked in tomato sauce. Or all sort grilled fish. Sweets are really sweet, fruit tastes as it should, and a nice cold Grillo will be just the thing to accompany your meal! Bello!!!

Cala Rossa is a beautiful rocky beach with crystal clear water which you can walk to or cycle from the port. Favignana is a great island for biking and a hike to the delapidated castle is well recommended

It's a place where nature and modern times are wisely blended. Well served by ferries and hydrofoils, you'll find also a good coverage for your smartphone. But also a bike riding dimension. And breathtaking places, not only to take a smimm.

Favignana is a big island, here you need a bike, a car or a scooter to travel with. I walked in the centrum and to the beaches of Favignana, but I didn't find nothing special. We took a ferry from Trapani and the ticket was very expensive and for me it was not worth it, there are other very nice beaches in Sicily like Cefalu, for example. I wouldn't go there again.

We visited Favignana in September for 5 nights. Stayed at II Portico hotel. Good place with great location. We like not so crowded beaches and September work for us. Island was busy even in mid September. We had a car trough out the 2 weeks in Sicily and although Favignana is small island we where advised to ferry the car there (we have 3 children, 3 1/5, 1 1/5 and 4 month old). Car helped us on the island a lot. Favignana has wonderful beaches, we used only 4 beaches with sand suitable for children, best for children is Calamoni beach. Ideally Favignana is an island where you go solo or without children, rent a scooter or bike and you get the maximum out of every beach. Will not visit again with children as restaurants open 8pm and our kids sleep around that time, so for 5 days kids had pizza from the bakery. It is a bit annoying that restaurants are not open earlier, but that is how the locals do things there. BOOK TABLE IN THE RESTAURANTS OR ASK YOUR HOTEL TO DO IT FOR YOU, OTHERWISE YOU WILL EAT PIZZA FROM THE BAKERY.

Lovely laid back island with some nice beaches, but the best is in the evening as the centre gets really bustling with people and restaurants and cafes! It was great! We were there on a Saturday so maybe that helped.

Favigniana is the largest of the 3 islands. I had bought a ticket to Favigniana but have seen Levanzo, too. It seems, Levanzo has just about 3-4 streets with the same amount of cars. Favigniana is much bigger but the whole town can be viewed in some hours. I have spent about 90 minutes there. It was enough for me.In general, I would recommend to visit the island and the town just to tell yourself: I have been there. I have found nothing special. But the town is different from Trapani or Erice.

Very busy in the main centre but the most amazing coast line so don't be put off. I wouldn't come and expect to relax on a beach but I would definitely recommend hiring a bike and cycling the whole of the west half if the island (starting in the centre and going over to the other side of the island then there is a pathway around the entire coast.). There are options to stop at beaches but they aren't really beaches and overly crowded. Take water also as there aren't many places to get any.

Favignana came as a surprise, more so because we joined a tour guide for a one hour tour of the small village who provide us with a lot of information. We never expected Favignana to have so much actually! Please note that the tour is ONLY in Italian even if you are told there will be a guide doing an English version. We took the full day excursion with Blu Lines, and the tour included Levanzo which is small but reminiscent of Mykonos in Greece. One other important thing - if you suffer from any sort of allergies, make sure you take your own provisions. On booking I was promised a gluten free meal which never materialised. And forget about the 'mutilingual guide' on board - Sandro did 10 minutes of an explanation in English when we left Trapani for Favignana and the rest (i.e. Favignana to Levanzo and rest of the trip) was exclusively in Italian. If you are taking the tour simply to be able to swim in the lovely sea there, do note that you will have very very little time for swimming - 10 mins before lunch is served, and another 15 minutes before starting your way back to Trapani.

Do not hesitate for a second if you have the opportunity of visiting this lovely Sicilian Island. My experience was 100% lovely. There are magical beaches, mouth watering food, very friendly people and comfortable accommodation options available. It is a relatively small place so walking around should not be an issue but if walking isn't your thing be sure to take advantage of the many scooter and bicycle rentals available. The center is quite lively at night so do not miss having dinner and a granita afterwards. Your dinner is likely to be accompanied by live Italian folk music. If you are not familiar with Sicilian working hours, I advise that you familiarize yourself with it so that you don't get unpleasantly surprised when the grocery store closes at lunchtime for about two hours!

We visited Favignana because we stayed in Trapani. We rented a bike and went to the beach in Favignana. It was very nice, although very touristic!

Got to Favignana at about mid day, and decided to hire a boat which would take us to some sea caves and allow us to swim. Unfortunately I was not able to enjoy, the blue water, and beutiful rock formations because the old man piloting the boat would not stop touching my mother. At first I thought I was imaginig things, but then she told me in English, which luckily he did not understand that he had been touching her bum and rest of her body. We swapped seats so that she was further away but it was a small boat and he did not stop trying. We hired the boat from a bench with a sign above it just to the right of where the usicta line, docks. The boats being hire were small, wooden and colourful with outboard motors.Unless your a big guy I would recomend hiring one of the other boat companies, which had larger, crafts and looked more legitimate. I didn't know where to post this so put it under attractions, sorry if this is a mistake.

Ancient home of tuna fishing the island has a rich and interesting history. The old town is charming and well worth a day trip visit. If you stay a couple of days take a boat trip around the coves and secluded beaches - If you're lucky you can get a local fisherman to take you. Catch a ferry from Trapani port (the ticket office is on the dock and don't forget to get the return ticket to be sure to have place!).
