We have taken our 18, 16, and 14 year old grandchildren to Old Town Parasail for their birthdays last summer and again this summer. Of course we had to go up also...couldn't let the young-uns show us up! It was an exhilarating experience to soar up and away! Captain Glen has been doing this for years. He put us all at ease and we felt completely safe. You may choose the 400' line or 800' line, and you can stay perfectly dry, or choose to be dunked on the way down...we chose to be dunked...such fun! We will definitely go back, after-all there are still grandchildren to come!

I am not a big fan of heights and usually avoid them at all costs. But this was something I wanted to try but had always been too afraid. So I booked it as a surprise for my husband thinking we could go up together but there was no tandem rides. However, my husband went up first and I went up after and the views from 400 feet were breathtaking. This was the most AMAZING thing I've done in a long time. I am so glad that I convinced myself to do this. Capt. Glen and his mate Bay were both phenomenal. They helped to ease a lot of the anxiety I had about going up that high. This was such a GREAT time that we're taking our kids to do it!!!

My boyfriend and I went parasailing this past Saturday as my birthday gift to him. He's been trying to get me to go skydiving for years, so I thought this would be a nice compromise. It was an amazing time. Captain Glen and his crew made for a smooth ride, both on the boat and in the air. We took the 400 foot flight, though I think if we go again, we'll try the 800 foot! It was beautiful and I barely even noticed when I started coming back down until I saw that the boat was getting close again. My boyfriend loved this birthday gift and we will definitely be coming back next year!

I was not sure I wanted to parasail as I do not care for Ferris wheels or any unsteady suspending-type of apparatus. But I have always thought I should at least once try either hot air balloon riding or jumping out of a plane just to get some idea of what it's like to be a bird. Now in my late 50's, it was time, and this seemed the safest approach since it was time-limited and not too expensive. Parasailing was nothing like I thought it would be. It was the most peaceful, zen-type experience; not the least bit scary. I felt like a soaring condor....even better than Soaring at Disney World. I was very surprised! I had called the company (Captain Glenn) in advance to ask if I needed a reservation. And although he suggested making one so he could meet me at a set time and place, I wasn't sure when we would be in town. We found him docked at the City Yacht Basin. For $45 per person, he offers a 400 ft tether ride for 15 minutes of air time. The whole trip was closer to 45 minutes since he has to drive the boat out into the bay and back as well. You can go up 800 ft. for $90, although 400 ft was plenty high enough for me. My son accompanied me and helped deploy the parrachute, but there was no charge for him to ride along. The whole thing was very comfortable. You put on a life vest and sit in a sling-type contraption, stand on a platform on the back of the boat while he deploys the parachute. He then attaches you to the parachute and slowly wenches you further into the air (with a motorized wench). It is so smooth, you don't even notice you are raising up into the air until you look down. The same is true with the return flight as you just discover that you are coming closer to the boat and you can just put your feet down and stand up. He offers you the option of getting dunked in the water and experiencing a free fall (and I did both). Although I discovered that I still had my cell phone in my pocket at the last minute as I was heading for the water (so I held it over my head as I was dunked so it stayed dry). I also thoroughly enjoyed the informative boat ride as Captain Glenn knows a lot about the area and pointed out several land marks which made the boat ride lots of fun as well. (He also offers boat rides without the parasailing for the more grounded types.) I do want to add, however, that I really appreciated the importance of experience in operating a parasail boat. I felt extremely safe with this company as Capt. Glenn has been doing this for over 15 years. He obviously had to be fully aware of many things at once, boat speed, other boaters and objects in the water, the direction of the wind, etc. He had to carefully tack like a sail boat would to make sure that the parachute stayed fully deployed. I was very impressed with his skills. He says that has a perfect safety record. If you have any desire to try parasailing, this is the perfect place to do it and the ideal company. It would also be a great couple activity as you can ride tandem.
