This venue has a great atmosphere with a delicious drink menu for anyone looking for a casual social outing. There was great live music, couples dancing, and a friendly, efficient staff. We would love to come back the next time we are in the Butte area.

Butte, Montana has long been known for its blue collar mining heritage, and early on earned a reputation as a rough, hard drinking town with a bar on every corner. This reputation persists to this day with the uninformed. Butte, however, has developed a thriving art community, is host to an upstart distillary, an upscale brewery, and now, a delightful wine and martini bar. Located above a local pub which is frequented by rowdy students, The Post is an island of calm. Once you ascend the stairs the facility wraps you in warmth and serves up a most resonably priced wine selection and a unique variety of martinis. The weekend we visited The Post provided live jazz music in the main bar area. Branching off from the the main area, we counted at least three seperate rooms with comfy leather sofas and tables. We chose the main bar area so we could get a feel for the place and the relatively well-dressed patrons. (The Post is encouraging a more formal dress code than the normal Butte blue jeans.) My husband and I started with martinis: he sampled the pickle martini and a classic dirty martini while I tried the expresso martini and lemon drop martini. All were delicious, artfully prepared, and served in unique glassware. After being joined by friends we ordered a bottle of Freixenet sparkling wine which was extremely reasonably priced. The wine list contains 20 bottles for $20, a surprisingly minimal markup on many. Higher end wines are also available, but alas, we had reached our limit.
