Golf course is set on a mountainside with great vistas and abundant wildlife. Course is a little quirky but the views are spectacular.

This golf course is just beauty on overload. It just meanders through the rolling hills & overlooking it is the magnificent mountains. No matter how you are playing, you will always have a great day because of so much natural beauty.

This is a fine, well conditioned golf course that will test your game. You must be able to adapt to the changes in elevation, take the occasional blind shot in stride, be grateful for the pars when they come and accept the inevitable bogies with quiet resignation borne from the realization you are a mere mortal after all. Do this and you will have a great time! I played as a single, was first out on a spectacular late August morning and was finished in two hours, without any guilt about abandoning the family and happy with my mediocre score as I sipped my drink at the end of the round and enjoyed the view of the course and the mountains beyond.

The opportunity to play either the Mountain or the Links course at LPG is one we look forward to every summer while visiting Word of Life Inn in Schroon Lake. The Mountain course leads you on a rugged path through the valley, with the mountain effect a little stronger on its greens, fun! The Links course is more open through the valley and exciting challenges on each hole, with the panoramic skyline a welcome distraction for its beauty. Play both if you can.

We played the links today. It is a good test of golf. The layout of the course is great. And the views are amazing. Course condition was OK. Tee boxes and fairways average. Bunkers not very good. Greens are large and undulated. They are a little slow. Overall a good time. Also very walkable. Folks at pro shop were average in service. It's a little pricey at 70 bucks a person but for resort golf not surprising.

Played the Links and thought it was beautiful. Great views. The conditions were very good for what we paid.

Some green winter kill, especially on mountain course. Other than that, in pretty good shape. Not perfect but, very playable. Mountain course particularly interesting as many old style holes (course is 100 years old) that are very unique.

played the links course for 10 holes with my wife. followed a drunken tournament, no marshalls. had to go back into the club house 4 times just to find out where the tee's were for the links course were[ half a mile from the club house]. Seems that after paying for the round,we weren't too important. If not for the bag boy, we might still be confused. I would not recommend this course for service,or conditioning.Playing from the back tees, you are in the line of fire for many approach shots of previous holes. Catherder

Very scenic course. Lots of challenge but fair. Wife also played and very accessible from front tees. Lots of variety in the holes. They say the links course is even nicer bur did not play that one.

We were pleased that the Mountain course offered "senior" tees, which were really just the "forward" or "Ladies" tees, but then hugely disappointed when, on the back side, three par 3 holes were all blind tee shots! The course was in good shape, but absolutely nothing memorable about any hole we played. Craig Wood and Whiteface are much more enjoyable, playable and scenic than the Placid club, and both are well worth the money.

I was up in Lake Placid for a wedding and played both of the courses in one day to take advantage of the $28 relay deal. The Links course is simple but has some gnarly rough, good for players that aren't so confident or if you want to "enjoy" your round of golf. The Mountain course (designed by Alistair McKenzie!) is really interesting, there seems to be at least one blind shot on every hole. Quite difficult if you're playing for the first time and generally challenging, it's a good test if your an able player. A rangefinder will be helpful though as the yardage markings on the Par 3's especially seem a bit inconsistent (the yardages on the tee blocks are different than on the card). There's a driving range to warm up too.The courses aren't as nice as Whiteface Golf Club but it'd be the second best golf course to play on in Lake Placid (I think). My highlight was playing the Alistair McKenzie designed Mountain Course. The "Pristine 9" looked cool too, wish I had time to check that out. A good option for those who are "part-time" golfer sand just want to go out for a couple hours for a nice walk.Clubhouse food was pretty good on the whole.

Beautiful pristine golf course. However, they have reduced rates after 2pm and 4pm but will not let you pay even 2 minutes before the 2pm or 4pm time slot. `the computer won`t let us take your payment`` >There had been no one teeing off for 1 and a half hours prior to our tee time and no one after us, but they still made us wait until 2pm to pay. This is ridiculous. No wonder the course was empty on a beautiful day.

Great views, great holes reasonable price. He would have loved to go back if we'd time. Met a great guy from Philadelphia too which made it more fun too.

A great golf course with excellent view of the area. The course was in really good shape this year we will be back next year.

The layout of the course was excellent for the links course. Beautiful views. Greens were in good shape. There were no directions to the next tee - watch out for that. Had to look for next tee. The lengths were good for multiple tee boxes. Good yardage markers.
