paramount theatre

The Paramount is one of the must see attractions in Abilene. It is a grand theater from the early 1900's. They still show classic films. I actually took a class here while I was in college.They also have themed events such as scary movies during Halloween and Christmas movies in December. The architecture and design of the theater is just beautiful. And you can "see" the stars while watching the movie! Another great plus is the low-key, no-traffic downtown area where the Paramount is located.

What a fun place to see in a town that didn't have much to offer on a Sunday. A step back in time that induced smiles

We go once a month to the classic movie. It's always enjoyable. If you can go on Fri. night go an hour early for the talk about the the movie. There's always some interesting facts about the movie and its stars that you hear. $6 for an adult ticket and $5 for a senior ticket for a classic movie equals a great night out. $2 dollar donation to a boy scout troop to park in the lot across the street also is high in our book. Don't have to walk far and help out a boy scout troop at the same time.

Restored, beautiful, cloud machine moves clouds across the star studded ceiling. Sound system top notch and performances are unbelievably good. Don't miss anything at the Paramount...oh, and try the popcorn too!

My husband and I lived in Abilene for several years and this was our favorite place for date night! We would always go to the monthly movie showings and loved it. Sometimes it was the only way to get my husband to watch a good chick flick with me. Get there early or late, there is always a good seat in the house and take advantage of intermission (that's something I wish all movies had). Thanks for the memories!

Abilene is a wonderful place for small live performances. I say small because the Paramount Theater is a wonderful venue, but the stage is small and limits the type of productions that can be accommodated. But, the shows that are here are wonderful. If you are in town for more than a day or two, look this place up and see if a show or movie is happening here, as there is always something going on at the Paramount.My only recommendation is eat something before you go. The concession prices are very high.

We looked around briefly inside; it's beautifully preserved with a balcony and downstairs area as well. I would enjoy seeing a show here sometime.

I have lived in Abilene all my life and have fond memories about attending functions there. Love the old time feel of an age gone by. Love the film festivals they put on and the great family events. Love how the lights in the ceiling twinkle like stars and clouds roll by.

We go to the paramount as much as we can. Great old movies, concerts, plays, ballets and operas. The moorish fixtures and the old velvet seats take you back to another time in life. We try to go every month or two. And they is always something there to see that's of interest. If you want to go back in time and feel like a kid, then this is the place to go.

Lots of choices - movie screens and food/snacks. Near many hotels, restaurants, shopping and the freeway.

This is a theatre that is so unique as it's like stepping back in time ! You would think it was 1970 and I would know ! Beautiful decor , plush velvet curtains and seating and they show old movies and hold live shows ! We recently saw the Celebration Singers here and it was AMAZING and FREE ! Can't beat that , the place was packed !

I enjoyed sitting in the restored theatre watching a classic film. Excellent experience! The prices were excellent and the atmosphere inviting.
