Nice location....well kept.....nice folks....felt safe in the area from the park rangers patrolling the area often.

holding their things in the bushes. That's what I remember from 1994. The water was cool. I like the nude beach idea but in USA it's all about the pot bellied hippie perv.

As of this writing (August 10, 2014) the lake is about 50 feet lower than normal due to the drought, so you would need to climb down a hill to arrive at the water level. It's not too difficult, but you need some strength and balance since there's no clear path. The entrance fee is $15 per car. I didn't mind it since I thought it was a good way to prevent creepers from entering the area. The "beach" itself isn't sandy. The land is very rocky and you may have a difficult time finding a comfortable place to sit. Also, there is almost no shade on the beach. As for the nudity, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. There were all sorts of ages and body types and everyone was respectful of everyone else. Also, you don't have to be nude if you don't want to. I think it was split 50/50 in terms of nude vs. clothed. I went with two friends on a Saturday afternoon and had an enjoyable time. The water was moderately warm for swimming in early August (I estimate about 78 degrees Fahrenheit) and unusually blue. Just put on some sunblock since you're almost guaranteed to receive long-term sun exposure.

Beach that clothing is optional.....so know you will see people swimming in the nude. Beach is very rocky and to get there you will need to hike down some very rocky uneven terrain. Limited shady areas. Cost to get in the park is 15.00... and that is all I have to say about that.

As a local resident I have been there a number times over the years mostly by boat. If you plan to walk in you need to be a GOAT. Planned to be DISGUSTED, the people that you want to see nude keep their clothes ON and the DIRTY OLD MEN in black socks sans clothes will damage your eyes. In addition there is alot of pervert trolling and guys lurking above in the woods trying to catch a glimpse of the naked folks. The restrooms are atrocious. If you want to be GROSSED OUT, this is your place.

McGregor Park (more commonly known as Hippie Hollow) is on the rocky shore of Lake Travis, near Austin, Texas. This is part of the Travis County park system and does allow full nudity within its bounds. Unlike a number of years ago, the park is now restricted to 18 year olds and older. The park is along the edge of the lake and is characterized by large limestone rocks ringing the steep shoreline. Hippie Hollow attracts couples who like to enjoy the water and sun in the altogether as well as a large gay contingent who generally congregate at the far end of the park. Unfortunately, the drought in recent years has dropped the level of the lake so that getting to the water's edge requires a perilous climb. Nudity is not universally practiced by all who visit the park. At my recent visit, the clothed and unclothed were about equal in number. While in the past lewd behavior among the trees was commonplace, such behavior will now get one a ticket to the Travis County jail as the area is heavily monitored by the park police. Hippie Hollow can be a enlightening and interesting experience. For those broad minded souls who like things a bit different, a visit to Hippie Hollow should be on their travel agenda.

We visited this local attraction on a Sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised. It is Texas' only clothes optional park, which drew us here for the promise of no tan lines. The cost of visiting is $15 per car, one parks and walks less than 250 meters to a slope of rocks that leads down to Lake Travis. The portion of the lake that allows nude swimming is portioned off by buoys. The area near the water is the more social part, but one can really sit anywhere and be left alone. It is really about how open a person is to taking his or her clothes off. In fact, one can keep a swimsuit on.

Visited mid-week and enjoyed the visit. $15 admission/car admission a bit steep but guess that helps keep away some of the just curious or gawkers. Nice weather and although the sun darted in and out of the clouds looked to be about 30 - 40 people there including about 6 couples. Some were up in the tree line for some shade, others laying out on the rocks and others down by the water which is still about 50' below full level so have good walking shoes (not flip flops as you can easily slip on the loose rocks). Spoke with the ranger that was walking the trail and he was very pleasant. Said they are there to ensure folks have a safe visit and it is rare for them to issue any citations for lewd behavior; although they will not hesitate to do so if someone is not acting appropriately.

I was amazed at how many people were there & how good the scenery was. I can not wait to go back for a holiday weekend!

For starters I am not a nudist but was interested in the idea of being completely free in nature. My husband and I visited even after the reviews about "creeps". We were not once in an uncomfortable situation. Though we weren't prepared for the terrain and didn't bring towels to lay on it was a very neat experience. I did feel the need to respect others space and I felt like we were treated the same way. I have nothing bad to say and if there were any "creeps", I was not aware, nor did it matter.

The beachline is non-existent unless water is low (which is has been due to drought). IF the water is low and you want to get sun then you will be climbing and it's a little treacherous. There are a ton of creeps here. This is not a family nudists area, or even just a place to be comfortable being nude while being around others. It's primarily used for voyeurism and discrete hook ups. There was a guy who was taking photos through a telescopic lens. He left before anything could be done about it. But seriously, worst nudist experience ever. If you're looking for actual nudists events look at Hill Country Nudists http://hillcountrynudists.com/

Yes, it is a nude beach in Texas. Keep in mind, all of those comments here about it being a "sausage fest", were from dude's who came to the park without women and promptly complained that there were not enough women. I get the feeling they were hoping for a free, brightly lit version of a strip club-- and wanted to bring back more than rocks from the beach. This is not that place. For the record, I am a dude and I brought my own eye candy (she is hot-- even when not in the Texas summer sun).I went for my first time this past weekend (on Saturday and then came back on Sunday because I had such a good time.) I am not a swinger and am not interested in being with anyone other than my beautiful GF. I checked out the scenery and there were plenty of couples in the "main" section of the park-- just down from the entry. The one creepy dude (probably one of the ones complaining about the park being a sausage fest) was greatly outnumbered by "normal" nudist-- you know, the ones that can carry on a normal conversation sans clothes.Yes, there were people of all sizes (and lengths). If you want to gawk at models, surf the web or hit the strip club. If you want to hang out and relax, it is a nice place to go. just bring something soft to sit on. It you don't want it to be a sausage fest, bring your own women.

First of all, there is no where to lie out in the sun. Sharp rocks everywhere. It's terribly steep too. As soon as my husband and I walked into the park we were approached and "greeted" by nude older men, wanting to talk etc.. We sat on the rocks for awhile....there were just naked older guys everywhere. It really was creepy. We thought we'd try this, as we'd been to these type of places in Europe.i was so uncomfortable...the sharp rocks...no where to sit...creepy guys, that we left. We didn't even disrobe...it was just creepy. Plus there's a nearby bar that overlooks the area, so you just know there are drunks watching you even if you can't see them. I don't recommend it...unless this appeals to,you. In Europe it's better...no one approaches you...it's more discreet.

This was a great place to cool down plenty of place to swim. there was a good mix of people of all ages and sex. many nudist couples and groups of peoples from both sexes enjoying the day.

Although there are buoys that keep you away from shore, it is aggravating when the nudesters float out to the buoys and my young children get an eyeful.
