When they refer to Woodward cave as "the big one" they mean that. The tours take place sporadically, only when they seem to have enough people for a decent size group. It's a walking tour, no cramped quarters, but remember it's a cave so it is completely black. Have fun.

We pulled in and paid for tickets and were waiting to see if anyone else would be joining our group. As we were sitting there talking thinking about trying to get our money back and go do something else. For some reason we stayed and enjoyed the whole thing. It was very informative and we liked our guide very much. She seemed very knowledgable and enthusiastic about sharing the information of the cave. It's a true gem in the middle of the country. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!!

We spent the weekend with another family at the Woodward Cave House and went for a quick triop to see the cave. It was perfect! No lines, very little wait, NO COMMERCIALIZATION AT ALL, and the cave was in great shape. I've been on other tours where you are bumping into or passing the tour in front of you, but that was not the case here. They seem to spread them out with the right timing and we never saw another soul. Highly recommend this cave if you are in the area. The whole tour takes about 40 minutes and the guideasseem very knowledgeable.

My husband , his Sister and I drove into a Campground, no big fan fare and commercialization here. No tourist trap in this place. That itself was refreshing!! A little country store with gifts and produce on the second floor of the building. The Cave Entrance was ground level....a little gentle slope to get to it. Very cold temperature in this Cave....of 48 degrees. Most caves are between 52 to 56 degrees. I wore a wild breaker and was slightly chilled. A young girl in her teens or twenties gave us a very nice tour and did a great job. She was great with the kids. Very easy walk in this cave from what we were used to. Quiet ,peaceful atmosphere in this camp/cave area. Nice cave history and friendly people .

We rented a cottage on site. It was not the Hilton..older but clean.Very peaceful..We went off season so it was VERY quiet...Friendly staff..but the most wonderful part was all the fresh produce from the Amish farmers. You are RIGHT in the Amish community here.....Like RIGHT in it lol But no touristy stuff at all. ...It was so great to experience that. A cute little Amish lad let me pet and hold some of the animals on their farm. The cavern tour was very nice too. All in all.. loved it..A great alternative to the tourist traps.

Woodward Cave and campground is in Woodward, Centre County, Pennsylvania. It is about 20 minutes east-northeast of the more well-known Penn's Cave. Due to it no being as well known, it is not as crowded. The tour was very informative and personable. The tour guide was easily engaged by tourists with questions. The gift shop was rather negligible. I was unaware that there was a campground connected, but it was nice to know. Thus, one can reserve some time and space to stay on the campground and be close to the cave.

Took a road trip up from the Hershey Harrisburg area to woodward cave, place was a bit hard to find, appears not as popular as other caves in the area, small gift shop with not much in it, campground bathrooms not as clean as other caves in area, went on cave tour with one other family, cave had lots of tunnels, a few real nice formations, just not as much as some of the more popular caves in the area. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Woodward Cave has some nice formations. The cave tour is very easy with only a few steps and few slopes. It has large open rooms. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the cave. If you are in the area you need to visit Woodward Cave.
