Nestled in the estate neighborhood of Radnor ,are the unique gardens within the Chanticleer Estate. Here visitors can wander throughout the well manicured grounds and experience a similar feeling that one would find at Longwood Gardens or Winterthur .Without traveling the 25 miles or so to reach those destinations .

We love Chanticleer. We drive the 2.5 hours from our home to Wayne, PA yearly, usually in May or early June, to enjoy the absolutely gorgeous gardens of Chanticleer (http://www.chanticleergarden.org). What I particularly like about Chanticleer is that on Friday evenings you are permitted to bring a picnic basket to dine wherever you would like througout the gardens (devine!). "Chanticleer is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. The garden is also open on Friday evenings until 8:00 p.m. from May through Labor Day. The 2015 season begins on April 1st and ends on November 1st". Admission: Adults $10, pre-teens free. Parking is a challenge (limited) but that is the ONLY negative about the place. If you enjoy gardening and spectacular landscaping, you will LOVE Chanticleer!

Chanticleer is an amazing place for strolling beautiful and ever changing gardens; picnicking with friends; getting inspiration for floral arrangements and landscaping; or just the pure escapist fun of plunking down on one of the many chairs dotting the garden and pretending that this is your home. One thing to note is that while children are welcome, their balls and other sports toys need to stay in the car.

This was the outstanding garden on our three week journey through NE USA. It was a wonderful surprise with its gorgeous garden spaces, remarkable plant associations and extensive views. The volunteers here deserve mention too, so enthusiastic and helpful, their recommendatios for specific parts of the garden are well worth listening to. If you live near Chanticleer and you haven't been get over there straightaway, you will become a regular!

As a professional horticulturist I have visited many public gardens and arboreta, but I have never walked a garden as lovely as this place. Each outdoor room was a delight--the entire place luring you from one tranquil yet fascinating spot to the next. It both soothes and titillates with its emphasis on foliage and texture and a rich comfort being in a place so beautiful. There are no labels to distract from nature, yet there are plant lists discreetly hidden to edify those in need. The level of maintenance is high and the grace of design is even higher. It is truly a gardener's garden but I doubt there is a being alive that would not find this secret garden a sensual experience. Part of their mission is to elevate the level of garden design; horticultural professionals are admitted without charge.

it was the last day that the garden was open and despite the cold, it was a beautiful place. There are many different parts to the garden and each place was really different and well made- there are sculptures, water features, even a house w/ a beautiful pool as well as the beautiful nature all around. Worth a visit!

Gorgeous property and wonderful park to stroll in as a couple or with a group for a convenient and quiet outing! Provided a great location for a large family gathering (out of towners), to break up the day. Picnicking is available with advance notice.

This once-private residence is a 35 acre estate with beautiful gardens and hidden treasures. Even in this "off" season, the grounds were colorful and beautifully maintained.

Chanticleer is relatively close to me so I have had the opportunity to stop by a few times and look around and its a really nice place to spend some time and relax. The gardens are maintained very very well. Anyone interested in elaborate gardens with a spectacular variety of plants will find this place very nice. Its also good to spend time with friends or significant other due to its beauty. Overall if your in the area and have some time I would defiantly stop by and look around for a while.

Oh my goodness this place is beautiful. There is so much to look at. Nice place to go for a leisurely stroll. You can bring alcohol in and just sit and chat with friends! Great place to visit!

This garden and estate is beautiful and relaxing. It's a fine place for a quiet stroll not too far out into the country. Definitely worth a little time in a busy day.

Absolutely above expectations. This garden is so beautiful and so well taken care of. It is a very big place, so be prepared to walk, walk, walk. But it is totally worth it. And don't forget your camera.

This garden estate is the perfect place to go to get away from the stressful situations of life. There is beauty to be found everywhere, if you are able to stroll or walk on grass and paths. The entrance is on a country road that is not very easy to find but it is worth the effort to go. I recommend taking a stroll around the grounds and then eat a picnic lunch (you bring it) before you leave. Enjoy!

Start with the house tour done twice a day 11 and 1. Extremely interesting history and views from every room. One garden after another were just beautiful. You could make it a day and bring your lunch. As you stroll the grounds there are many seats throughout. Some of the paths are wheelchair compatible but I must tell you the site is pretty hilly and it is a lot of walking over thirty plus acres. All in all a very lovely visit. Must go back in the spring as they are constantly changing the various gardens.

We were so blown away by how beautiful and varied this garden was. Gorgeous vistas everywhere , beautiful plantings. It was just plain fun to explore. There's about a 1-mile walk around and through the property but it's not difficult to navigate. Well worth a visit whenever you're near Philadelphia.
