mullins cheese

Would this be Wisconsin without cheese factories? At Mullins there is the cheese production facility and the retail store. Unfortunately there are no factory tours highlighting the cheese production process, although they do have a video on the process in the store (I did not watch this).A highlight of any cheese dairy visit is the fresh cheese curds. Mullins does not disappoint on this. On my mid-winter visits, these came out at a little after 11 AM. Warm curds, rubbery squeaky on the teeth - yum.There is a large selection of Mullins produced cheeses, with a few from other producers available to fill niches that Mullins doesn't produce. The ones I have tasted were all first rate cheeses.It is only a very short distance off I-39 at the Knowlton exit (175), a little south of Mosinee.
