I loved visiting this magnificent home with all the fabulous woodwork. The guide was knowledgeable and it's just a great tour to see this chalet. It ties the Kohler family to the past. What a priceless gathering place for the Kohler community.

We visited the Waelderhaus on a recent visit to Kohler. A choral concert and gingerbread competition were being held for the public. We also toured the building inside and out. A nice stop to see the Austrian roots of Kohler, WI.

Took a group on a tour this week. The Kohler family is truly a great asset to Wisconsin and The Waederhaus is a testament to their giving nature. This building represents the type of home that the Kohler ancestors would have had in Austria. However, it was not built to be a home, but rather a gathering place for the local Girl Scout Troop as well as special occasions for the Kohler family. The carvings, metalwork and paintings are beautiful. Take the time to check them out closely. The woodwork is so pretty and many things are quite ingenious (the lighting). The tour is quite interesting. FYI: I was with a group of seniors and the building is not handicap accessible. Quite a few stairs to climb as well.

This log-construction building, set in the woods between the village of Kohler (technically in the village) and Blackwolf Run Golf Course is a replica of the ancestral home of the founder of the Kohler Company. It is picturesque. My most recent visit was for a Christmas choral concert last December.

This brief tour gives a little history of this building and the related history...of the type of constructioh it represents. The public nature of the current uses of the building and particular the use by the girlscouts was of interest. It may not be exciting or as historic as the plant or other sites, but for a brief respite from the busy life we lead, it was enjoyable.

went here a few years back when in the area for golfing husbands. The tour was informative, but I remember it being full of information, and i did not say interesting information. I also remember the guide being very stern and overly concerned with where people were standing in the room. Could be a shorter more fun tour.

The Waelderhaus is a faithful reproduction of architecture peculiar to the Alpine area of the Bregenzerwald Province in Austria. The architect Kaspar Albrecht designed and directed the building of the house in the late 20's and early 30's. It is full of specially made carvings, woodcuts, reliefs, iron and pewter work. The house is also a tribute to the Girl Scouts who was an organization near and dear to the original owners. Free tours are daily at 2, 3 and 4 except holidays
