It sounds crazy, but one of the absolutely best things in Santa Barbara is the county courthouse. Check out the murals in the commissioners' meeting room, see the amazing view of the city from the clock tower, and while you're up there, don't miss the opportunity to watch the bells ring the hour. Really, just take some time to wander the halls — the way this building blends art and architecture, and indoor and outdoor space is unforgettable.

View was fantastic. They are restoring one of the murals in one of the rooms, so we werent able to see that. We did get to witness a wedding of a couple that traveled from Russia to get married there!

When someone suggested visiting the "Courthouse" I really didn't know what to expect. What an amazing place. It is stunning! Loaded with old world charm, beautiful paintings and a view of the City of Santa Barbara that cannot be beat!

Not much into museum tours but, this is a highly recommened stop. Beautiful and historical toured at your own pace.

As a recommended 'place of interest' this building offered a good opportunity to view and photograph the best views of Santa Barbara but little else. The clock tower has a few more steps than you might expect so it is advisable to use the lift to access the tower platform which provides excellent views of every facet of Santa Barbara.

We stopped off the Trolley Bus to see this attraction which is still a working courthouse. You get the best views of Santa Barbara from up the clock tower there is a lift. We enjoyed looking at the clock itself and its intricate workings.

Some wonderful architecture and craftsmanship all over. Bell tower is interesting. Nice doors everywhere! Great tile works. Restored and preserved beautifully.

an expert at Courthouses around the USA...but.... This one is amazing. Kudos to the taxpayers of SB for keeping this one BEAUTIFUL and relevant. We come back each year we visit the area.

This is not an exciting stop although it is a great photo op. It is a beautiful building. There are tours at 2:00 p.m. most days which I didn't take so I can't comment on how good it is. There is an elevator to the top of the clock tower if you don't want to take the stairs. There is also the option of getting out to see the clock works on the level below. The clock chimes on the hour an half hour so if you want to watch the clock move, that's when you need to be there. The views are great. I especially liked the labelled photos provided so that you knew what you were looking at.

Admittedly, I couldn't imagine that a courthouse would be rated so highly. Well, it is! Lots of parking in Santa Barbara, and the courthouse is close to the lot across from the library. The courthouse quad is lovely--we even saw a wedding. The building itself is beautiful, and be sure to take the elevator to the top of the tower---great views!

My son took us to the Courthouse, and we were impressed with the architecture and finish work. The clock mechanism from Seth Thomas and the view from the top of the building on a beautiful day made it most worthwhile. As a lawyer, I would certainly enjoy practicing in this courthouse!

The tiles in the building are beautiful! They have daily tours and if you have the time, arrange a tour of the clock room. Going to the very top gives a beautiful view of the city.

Don't miss the courthouse if you want a beautiful 360 degree view of this scenic city. It is easily accessible and a great part of the history of Santa Barbara.

The view is about the only reason to swing through here, but wow, the view is worth it. It's amazing to see a 360 view of the area from the mountains all the way out to the Channel Islands. Glad we did it.
