We drove up and accidently found this little jewel. There is a walking, biking trail all the way around the recreation area. There is also a small pier to fish or just sit and watch the day go by. We had a fun time.
A quiet place to get away from it all. Paved 3 mile trail all the way around. Just watch for rattle snakes. They are thick.
This small lake is a great place to kayak. We took our inflatable two person kayak out on its maiden voyage. The wildlife was spectacular and the scenery was very lovely. There is a paved path all the way around the lake that's easy to walk or bike. And the view from Bromide Hill is breathtaking.
Veteran's Lake has held up well through the drought. One of its best features is the approximately 3 mile long trail around it's edge; the other an abundance of places to picnic, a covered pavilion, and plenty of restrooms. It's not the place to go if you want to swim, but it's wonderful for a walk, a cook-out, or a picnic. I'm not a fisherperson, but there are usually a few folks out fishing, too.
The lake is surrounded with rocks and tree limbs which your line continues to get stuck in. We caught two very small fish that were not keepers. Definitely not a fishing spot.
Nice small lake with areas to camp and swim around it. Excellent walking/bike trail all the way around the lake and connects to the campgrounds. You can take a short walk to the top of bromide hill for a beautiful view.
Picnic areas and trails all around lake. Boat dock available. Pavillons available with grills. Campsites.
this is a paved walking trail around a very nice lake. There are benches along the way and I seems to be well maintained. Great at sunset!
We love Veteran's Lake. The water is so clear and calm. We stop by everytime we go to Chickasaw National Recreation Center. Wish we had a lake like this near our house.
Veteran's Lake has a nice drive that goes around the lake - within Chickasaw National Recreation Area - there are benches and picnic areas that can be used for sitting and relaxing and watching the sunset. I am glad to see there is still water in the tiny lake.
They have a new walking trail that is a sidewalk that goes all the way around the lake. The sidewalk is plenty wide enough for several to walk beside each other or for passing.
