Starting in mid-March and continuing for a couple week-ends, "Ohio Maple Madness" offers the opportunity to tour maple sugaring sites throughout the state. The most abundant sites seem to be located near and around Geauga County. Check internet for list of sites, times, and driving map. Several communities and service organizations offer pancake breakfasts, which is a great way to start your trip. The Swine Creek Reservation in Geauga County offers a very informative narrated tour including a working syrup facility. Sites are free and offer a variety of maple sugar products for purchase. Some sites may be difficult to access especially those having difficulty walking, wheel chairs, strollers, etc. Some sites are set back in the woods requiring a long walk down a muddy, rutty road. Some sites have restroom facilities, others do not. Walking in mid-March will require boots and suitable winter clothing. I found all sites to be unique and very interesting, and the Owners eager to share their experience and receptive to questions. This is a great road trip for families interesting in the manufacturing of maple sugar products especially syrup.

This is a great drive it tour with a host of different places and activities to visit. Geauga county puts out a great Driving Map with details and information. There are numerous locations outside of Geauga county also. This is everything Maple and activities vary greatly from location to location. Check it out online or get a paper copy to plan your trip. There is everything from demos, sampling, hayride, exhibits, breakfasts, walks., candy making demos, maple product stores.... Highly recommend breakfast at one of the Amish houses (check the schedule ...not on Sundays). Activities vary from place to place and each has their own unique thing. Be sure to dress appropriated for possible walking outdoors or for cooler weather.
