It's a shame what they let happen to one of the greatest dog tracks there were in the world. Now it's all about the casino and poker room that are crowded and below average.There are alot better casinos. Feel free to go to the next one.

When I make my yearly trip to FL, on Saturday mornings I always enjoy visiting this market. I seem to find something to buy each time. The market is out in the open so come prepared for the sun. It's not so big, so you can easily see everything in a couple hours or less. In the evenings, any night of the week I enjoy going back for the casino. There are lots of slot machines to choose from. You can get a decent hamburger at the small cafe.

We came to visit the dog track. The minimum bet is $5. I thought that was a little high. The place is run down and a little dirty.

We have been to Mardi Gras several times over the last couple of years. Tonight we went for the French Quarter Restaurant buffet. I was delighted by the fare. I had a dozen peel-and-eat shrimp, and the best prime rib I have experienced anywhere in South Florida - and I have had many. Although the wine list leaves a bit to be desired, the service is well above average. My only concern was the number of dishes coming out of the kitchen wet and dirty - be careful! Beyond that, the Mardi Gras folks go all out for every special event. Certainly worth trying.

Large and airy casino. Huge greyhound racetrack. Flea market Friday to Sunday. Lots and lots of parking. Many restaurants and businesses all around. Easy access via Highway 1.

Stopped by here to have a look. Basically it looked run down. Didn't appear to be a big casino either. We were hungry and went upstairs to their restaurant. It didn't look like it was worth staying there to eat, so we went downstairs to the games room and noticed something of a snack bar. Well, it felt more like it was in a 1960s Jersey bowling alley than in a casino! Strange. If you're in the area and want to hit a casino, the Hard Rock Casino is by far the best in the area. I would have given it two stars but didn't think it was "poor" so "average" it is.

It s on Hallandale blvd, near were the French people stay for winter time, this casino is Fun,not to big and the slot machine are paying for me at least. The table seems fun, people were talking firendly. We like going there for gambling for a an hour or two, the buffet is not great. It is just for fun for gambling.We like the dog racing.and they have Music live which is very fun.

Went here yesterday after not going here for about a year. I was quickly reminded why I stopped going. Slots do not pay out nothing. Went in with a relative with a few hundred dollars each and we were both broke in just a few minutes. First time in my 20 plus years of playing slots that I got 0 payback on a machine with 100 bucks. Straight to 0 with not one single payout. I thought I was being punked or something. After that, I kept bouncing around to different machines and they just drained my money with no bonus' or even small payouts! I used to love this place years ago and used to win all the time.

Mardi Gras Casino is not one of the largest casinos in South Florida, but it is not the smallest either. Formerly known as the Hollywood Dog Track, this place became a casino just like many other horse and dog tracks as soon as gambling rules were loosened. I wonder if they discontinued dog racing when the casino opened, as I haven't seen it happen in years. Unlike some other local casinos, all new members don't start with free play. You do however receive a t-shirt. Wow! The snack bars on the first 2 levels are bowling alley or old movie theater quality. Ironically a bowling alley is next door. The second level is completely depressing with lots of catatonic folks staring at races in other cities on video monitors. Parking is free. Exiting the Casino onto Pembroke Road is a pain if you need to head West back to I-95, as you can only go East out the exit. This is a good place for those to go which find the parking and crowds of the Hard Rock Casino too chaotic. We will keep returning.

I feel comfortable in this small casino.The food is good at the French Quarter. The greyhounds also run on certain days, which is a plus. They have live music available on certain nights and also concerts. Nice place to spend an evening.

I loved this place the first time I went. It has that old Vegas style casino feel to me. It has its problems like everywhere does but all in all I would come here other then the other casinos in the area. I have gone to gulfstream and lost every time. I have gone to classic and gotten lung disease just stepping in the place. But I always ended up coming back here. If you don't come here looking for the gilts and glamour of some of the other casinos then you wont be disappointed.

I discovered Mardi Gras after having disappointing times at another local Florida casino. On your first visit you play a little video game to win free play. The slot machines were plentiful and I won enough to play all night and go home with money! There was an Elvis impersonator singing the night I was there and everyone was dancing and having a blast! I will definitely return to this casino!

My husband really liked this place because they had a lot of .5 video poker choices. He's not a big spender, but enjoys his video poker. He would have given 5 stars. For me , it was kind of dark etc and the machines were kind of old., but I did do well there. I'm also not a big spender, but didn't lose all of my "entertainment" money, so it was fine. I was leary from other reviews, but it was much better than expected.

Took in the dog races then went to the fish and chip plus prime rib buffet on a Friday night. Both were excellent and surprised you could get both on one buffet. Lots of selection to make salad and was very good evening out as well.

Fun Fun Fun did I mention Fun. See a show or listen and dance to a live band then have a little sport - one armed bandits or sit down at a table and loose it like a man and sometimes maybe win.
