This was the first time we had visited. The area is lovely and very peaceful and relaxing. Lots of wildlife to see and friendly people to talk to. There are boat rides available to see more of the lake.

We rented a pontoon for a full day and started our boat day heading up the St John's river into Lake George. What a beautiful lake!!!!! The depth of the lake is about 6ft to 10ft through out the lake except closer to shore, so very easy to navigate. We motored around the lake and did a little fishing. There were gators everywhere, if you saw one head, you saw two in every direction. We learned later it was the peak of mating season. We headed over to Salt Springs area (NW) of the lake and anchored for lunch. Clear water in this area about 4ft deep. Lots of boats anchored there and people swimming. Water is cold. No swimming for me after seeing so many gators. Lots of birds, turtles and fish. Wonderful relaxing place to visit!!!!!!!!

Great place to check out gators, birds and just enjoy the scenery of old Florida. The tip in the summer is to go early in the morning or later in the evening. This way you will see more wildlife.

When we had the house boat, we made many trips through Lake George. I have not been fishing in a long time. Silver Glenn was almost home back in those times. It use to be quiet and peaceful back then. Last time I was there on a week end with friends, it was a bit roudy.

Lake George is a large forest lined lake fed by many springs. Wildlife is everywhere and the fishing is great !!

Have been boating on this lake for many many years. Nice big lake, lots of area to fish. BUT lot's of big alligators, and if you are on lake when a storm comes up get off of lake fast. Waves are ltterally like the Ocean. Several boats have capsized over the years.

It's always great to get away from the City and civilization, and enjoy the trip up the St. John's River to Lake George.Great trip for boaters, with several springs and small rivers to explore.

This is a Very Large Lake. One word " Amazing" 998 Nine Mile Point RoadSeville, FL 32190Lake George Forest and Wildlife Management area is 7,800 acres acquired in 1990 by Volusia County Government and the St. Johns Water Management District. Volusia County used funds from the Environmentally Endangered Lands program that was approved by the County's voters in 1986. Previously, the land was owned by the Union Camp Paper company which used it for timber production. This conservation area is part of a 35,380-acre wildlife management area that provides more than 20 miles of contiguous habitat for many species of Florida’s wildlife along Lake George and the St. Johns River. Two marked trails lead to several of Florida’s natural communities including pine flatwoods, cypress swamps, and marsh. The blue trail passes Lake George, the second largest lake in Florida and the largest lake along the St. Johns River.

On the other side of Lake George is a beautiful springs that can be accessed by a small boat. Go early however it is a congregation spot for drinkers and partiers so space is limited. You can see otter and lots of fish. Please report kids with spears trying to spear a fish to the Fish and Game commission if you are a Wildlife person and do not let your kids do this or I will report the parents with the boat number.. The phone number is 407-284-7081
