Absolutely an interesting cathedral with the different architectural styles coming together.don't forget to check out the museum, the patio and to climb the tower (spectacular view over the town and surroundings!)

The church is nice enough but nothing to go out of your way to see other than for the historical significance of the first Christian church in the Moorish part of Spain. Great views from the tower.

One of the most beautiful examples of early renaissance Spain cathedrals. What you read from other reviews is very true. It plays a very important part in history of Spain that I did not study pero (but) learned with my visit and help of my friends. My friends and family in Spain showed me a magnificent cite that is tucked away in a most beautiful province of Spain . Muy bueno!

This is a delightful cathedral, mainly dating from the Renaissance but with a touch of the Baroque. It is well worth a visit. Highlights for me included 'the Golden Chapel', a life-size recreation of the last Supper in wax and a library of massive choir books the early 16th century; It was a wet, foggy day when were in town, so while the visibility from the bell tower was limited, it was very atmospheric up there (and cold). Entry fee of 4 Euros included excellent audioguide

An impressive example of architecture of its time. Enjoy the building and also take the chance to walk throught the small historic district and see lots of Renacimiento and Barroco exampls of great civil and religiuos architecture

It's easy to get "cathedralled out" in Andalucia, but this is one of the best. The audio guide is excellent and interesting, and the interior of the central nave worth seeing. The trip up the tower is, however, something else. It's claustrophobic in places and you'll need a good head for heights on the open spiral stair. The view from the top is however very good and worth the climb. Views of Jaen in the distance as well as Sierra de Magina and Cazorla, surrounded by a veritable sea of olive trees.

Good audioguide fantastic views from the tower despite the wind. Cloisters and museum very good. Well worth the entrance fee.

Charming town. Its not a can't miss attraction but the old part of town and the cathedral are worth visiting. Climb the bell tower if you are comfortable with heights.

Beautiful cathedral. It will cost you eur4 to enter and included in the price is a hand-held audio guide which provides a short and interesting description of various points around the cathedral. At the end of the tour, you can also climb up to the top of the tower, if you're feeling brave, for some fabulous rooftop views. Note that there is wire safety netting all around which may interfere with photos.

Baeza in an old town, which boasts it's placement on Unesco's world heritage list. When we were there, the place was filled with the smell and smoke of the nearby olive-pit factory. Perhaps one will get used to it, eventually, but we did not. The town has charactaristic old streets and buildings which give it a special atmosphere. Walk around and you find yourself in the Middle Ages. Go visit the cathedral and climb the tower, but remember: other cities in Spain have much more to offer.

Interesting interior with a small museum attached. The cloisters are unlike anything we have seen before..... rather plain but interesting all the same.

The Baeza Cathedral was built on the site of the Moorish mosque, previously a Roman temple. The church is Renaissance in style, although large modifications were made in the 16th century by Andres de Vandelvira, and it is named the Cathedral of Santa Maria. The church was dedicated in 1593. It contains a Gothic rose window from the 14th century and a beautiful choir stall. There is a Gothic cloister and has three Mudejar chapels and one Gothic chapel. The church has a tower with a square ground plan on the northwest side, that was formerly the minaret of the Moorish mosque. On top of the base is an octagonal construction that is topped with the belfry. The south wall has a 15th century Gothic door called the Perdon Door, and this leads to the cloister. It is said that convicts who escaped from the authorities and crossed this door would be freed. There are nine chapels in the naves and among them are the San Jose Chapel, a work of Vandelvira from the 16th century, and the Golden Chapel that was founded by the Cabrera Godoy family in the 16th century. The main chapel has a Baroque altar that was sculpted in 1619 by Alonso Rosillo and later gilded with gold. The sacristy is from the 17th century. The choir grill was made by Bartolome in 1520. The jewel of the Cathedral is the Baeza Monstrance, from the 18th century. It is two meters high, Baroque in style, and made of silver, gold, and bronze. The silversmith Gaspar Nuño de Castro (from Antequera, Malaga) was the artist who made it, and it took him 14 years to finish the work. In front of the Cathedral is the Fountain of Santa Maria, built in 1564.

While the cathedral itself was great, the inner courtyard and museum rooms were really outstanding.

The audio guide was very good and the interior was just getting a bit of a refurbishment but it did not spoil our visit

We walked around the cathedral at night and took a gazillion photographs. For any photogs out there, someone took their time and let the place perfectly ... it's gorgeous and will resonate well in any photo.
