Lovely museum showing a lot of the old culture. It's open virtually every day and easily worth the 5 euros it costs. Aside from the chapel it's possible to reach everything by wheelchair, a very friendly place.

This is definitely one of the tourist highlights when visiting the city. You do need to pay for entry - I'd recommend getting the €6 ticket which also gets you into the Museu Alberto Sampaio round the corner. The set up takes you around the main first floor of the Palace, through the different rooms which have been set out as they would have been when the building was inhabited.Even without the audio guides, you get a good idea of what life must have been like as the rooms are laid out realistically.Looking out over the tranquil main courtyard and spending a minute or two in the chapel, where they play church music, is particularly atmospheric.

Not expensive, well supported by information in every room. I didn't know we had enticed a lady of Braganza to England to marry Charles 2.The tapestries are amazing, very bright and the reproductions are also excellent. One of the best places I've been for access with wheelchairs, well done Guimaraes!A good castle I would imagine for children too, especially if studying or interested in history.Thank you for a good visit.

This wonderful and well-preserved palace with its upturned hull of a Portuguese caravel ship will amaze anyone who steps inside. The price is not too high.

A beautifully restored palace in a perfect setting, and the helpful docents and staff really made for a great visit. In fact, we accidently overpaid and the nice lady in the ticket office called it to our attention when we completed our tour. That does not happen often. The artifacts were well documented and the architecture was beautiful. In a town with much history, do not miss this!

I love the way they preserved the rooms inside this building. Showing different original memorabillias, the room of the Duchess of Braganza especially, the dining table, the paintings, the arts and many others. Again don't forget to visit when you happen to be in the north of Portugal. It's an amazing place to see.

Well worth visiting if you get the chance. Braga is steeped in history and this is a place not to be missed. Beautiful old building and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The grounds are pretty, but it is not an overwhelming site in this city which was the birthplace of Portugal.

Magnificent and quite unique in my experience. Most, but not all of the palace has what appears to be original, medieval furniture, huge oriental carpets, magnificent tapestries, and is very imposing indeed. The chapel is very charming, with impressively (and, I would imagine, faithfully) reconstructed woodwork. Just one or two of the chambers were slightly disappointing in featuring furniture that was of a noticeably more baroque style, but there may have been good reasons for this. For a mere 5 euros (or half that, for Isic card holders), it really ought not to be missed. Visitors should not miss the impressive castle ruins close by (free of charge), or the little church.

Built from the start of 1410 and subject to ongoing restoration over the past century. For 5 Euros it was an interesting and informative way to spend a couple of hours, with the rooms open to the public all furnished in the appropriate period style.

It was very nice to walk through and you get discount if you're a student. I loved the stain glass windows in the chapel.

It is hard to understand the original architecture since it was rebuilt in the twentieth century, however the exterior is grandiose. Unfortunately the furniture is poo,r essentially consisting of copies. The exception is the large tapestries that are in fact very beautiful

As many castles, this palace is also a museum witj many old furneture and paintings. Above all look at the different sealings in the rooms.

very tastefully renovated palaces which evoke an era long gone. make sure to come with a guide. nice gift shop.

A lavishly furnished palace with an audio tour to explain as you walk through the various rooms. The audio is old-school lecturing - not very creative, just the facts. The castle is nice to see and the chapel is pretty. Its not expensive an only takes about an hour, so worth it within a day of the old city, this and the castle.
