We arrived in Mora and stayed at the Best Western Mora Hotell and Spa. Nice rooms, great outside restaurant, expecially in summer for a very late night dinner. Visited the Zorn Museum after seeing his paintings most of my life (I am of Swedish descent). Great little museum and the house tour was very interesting. A man before his time. A must see if you visit Mora.

The paitings are beautiful and the museum is certainly worth a visit. But as less than half of the paintings have titles/explanation in English, it is a bit of a pity. It is clear this museum (and region) does not expect foreign visitors.

Anders Zorn's house was more interesting to us than the museum. Recently San Francisco Legion Of Honor had a great exhibition of his works and the super curating of that exhibition is still fresh in our mind. This museum has a few pieces that we have not seen anywhere before. The two masterpieces were the small yet intricate wood carvings of his mother and grandmother. The movie about him was an added bonus which we enjoyed very much. The disappointing thing was a lot of mistakes in English language. At times no description of his works at all, just a room with a few paintings. The small number of his etchings exhibited was surprising because there is room and they have so many in their collection. After saying all that, I am glad we went and spent about 2 hours in the museum.

Spent a morning at the Zorn Museum. The most enjoyable part was the tour of the Zorn House, given in English by a young guide (Edit) whose enthusiasm and knowledge of the family and history of the house made the tour great.

Anders Zorn was an outstanding painter, particularly using water colors and picturing landscapes or lakes.

This is a small museum and for me, there was a bit of padding. I enjoyed the paintings and etchings by Zorn but not the silverware, wife's jewellery, or the ante room with a stuffed squirrel and a flute. If you are english speaking and want to see inside his house it is worth checking the times of the english tour before arriving. You have to be on a tour to go inside his house and when I went there was only one english speaking tour at 14.00. For refreshments, check out Wayne's Coffee across the road from the museum. You can sit outside and the food we had was fresh and tasty, with good service and clean toilets.

The Zorn museum was really worth a visit. He was a fantastic painter, especially his portraits and water colors were really brilliant. Unfortunately, the museum also hosts an exhibition by Peter Johansson (Johansson vs Zorn) which is not only strange to my mind pretty awful. I have difficulties understanding why the museum have decided to host Johansson's exhibition.

The Zorn Museum was the main reason for this trip to Europe and it’s a must see if you’re travelling through the Scandinavian country side. It’s a four hour drive from Stockholm and has train service. It’s in the middle of the Dalarna region, famous for Dala horses adopted by Swedish organizations in the U.S.This is a fabulous museum to an incredibly artist. You can find out all you want about Zorn online so I won’t bore you with the details. Suffice it to say that he was a master at capturing portraits, people, and nudes. His sculptures around the grounds are inspiring. It will surely be embarrassing to some American sensibilities (for no real or good reason) but his nudes are simply sublime. Another intriguing aspect of his life is the rags to riches angle. The Museum presents a balanced view of his work and life. You can tour his house and studio and see many of his most famous works on display year round. Don’t miss a walk around the nearby Church yard to see his gravesite.

An absolute must when visiting Dalarna and Mora!! It was incredible.. and even though there were a lot of people waiting to get in, the queue went very quickly

We had never heard of Anders Zorn, let alone know there was a museum. We visited the museum and the house of Zorn on the same site whilst staying at Tallberg, about 30 minutes drive to Mora. He was a well known Swedish artist from around the turn of the 19th Century. We enjoyed the art displayed in this fairly compact and brain friendly musem..no overload as in larger museums. The house is well worth a visit. It can only be visited with a guide and they have English language tours often as you would expect in Sweden. Zorn was wealth in his own life time so the house reflects the innovations available in the late 1800 and early 1900s.
