This nice bridge has a great history. A true icon for the little town of Cividale Del Friuli. This town is still all Italian, no mass tourism but nice and cosy squares, lot of locals having a drink, a real nice vibe. The bridge is a beautiful "walk to point" when you visit the town.

The story underlying story the bridge is equally exciting to the bridge itself so anyhow, if you visit Cividale del Friuli you should obviously pay a visit! The bridge is impressive and so does the surrounding environment. For those not acquainted with similar urban constructions, the overall setting is great. After crossing the bridge and admiring its architecture you will have the chance to walk through picturesque paths and alleys of exceptional beauty and get a nice impression of the Italian countryside. So when you visit CdF, visit the bridge, hold you pet tight under you arm and have no fear… Cross it without any doubt.

Walk accross the bridge and stop approx mid way (there are spots on either side) to take great pictures of the Natisone river and the city. On the North side you will see the mountain ranges in Slovenia as well. Once accross you can also walk down a trail and take pictures from below the bridge. Watch the traffic on the bridge!

This bridge dates back many years and has quite a wonderful story to its naming. The view you can get from the bridge or of the bridge from near by parks is breathtaking... would recommend the stop over if you find yourself in these neck of the woods.

As its name Ponte del Diavolo, the locals put this bridge with a most talk about folk lore which put this bridge and the devil together, hence named Devil's bridge. Aside from the story, this bridge connects locals on both sides of the River Natisone. The panorama views from the bridge is breathtaking and is a vantage point for some good postcard photo shoots. The story was about the constant failures of building this bridge time after time. The legend has it that Devil promised to help the construction in exchange of a living soul for the price. Without sacrificing any human life locals sent a cat (or dog) to cross the bridge to the Devil as was promised. The bridge has since been staying in place. The best place to take the pictures of the bridge is the park area behind St. Martin in Borgo Di Ponte.

A quick trip on the regional rail line took us through agricultural country, with mountains coming closer, to Cividale del Friuli. A few minutes' walk brought us to a Saturday market on the edge of the old town. Wandering the streets towards the Natasone River took us to a table on the patio of a bar for due ombre of the local wine. What a picturesque and historic town! If you're in this part of FVG, don't miss it!

Only a town with an ancient history can have a bridge built by the devil. The legend of this bridge tell that for the costruction of this bridge the devil want the soul of the first that have crossed it. The wise people of Cividale, after the bridge was built, did cross a dog and so the devil was deceived. The view over the river is beautiful.it worth to visit if you are in the neighborhood.

The turquoise water flowing down from the Dolomites makes this a beautiful sight in this charming town. We even heard one passerby say "ciao, bella!" to another, just like in the movies ;-).

Fantastic view over one of the most beautiful rivers of the region. You can climb down to the shore just beneath the bridge and watch the cristal-clear blue water from a very good position.

Cividale is a small town, so you'll probably see the Ponte del Diavolo on your first walk through the town centre :) Worth visiting by nightfall, as the bridge is nicely lit.

Dramatic bridge with surrounding medieval buildings. On Sunday some shops open and restaurants excellent.

During a bike tour with friends we stopped by this breathtaking view of the river Natisone going through Cividale. This bridge is really nice and has a legend behind it that explains why it is named "The bridge of the devil". It's one of the access gates to Cividale city centre.
