I liked everything, especially the little statuettes dating from a long time before Christ. There is also a collection of maps which are very illustratives

Here you can see a lot of exhibits, discovered in the area, dating back to ancient times, exposed in a very professional manner.Very interesting are the maps of Cyprus, several hundred years old.

The museum is located in the heart of Larnaca town. The museum is flourishing with medieval pottery and embroidery, very quiet and a large outdoor exhibition area as well. The management is very informative and pleasant to have around. As a local i have visited the museum numerous time, the symbolic entrance fee is no problem and there is a large collection of high quality replicas and souvenirs available for sale.

A museum as you remember them - glass cases full of ancient artefacts well labelled in English, Russian and Greek - situated in an old building that really gives you the feel of the colonial history of Cyprus.

The exhibits are the best in Larnaka, but photos are not allowed. Don't miss the Howling man -- a neolithic clay figure.

Dear visitor,Firstly i would like to thank you for visiting our museum. Secondly i would like to inform you that our museum has a very large collection of Roman period Glass artifacts as well as an important collection of medieval pottery. In the museum there is also a collection of folk art embroiderys and woodcarvings. All tree collections are Roman and post Roman and have there labeling acordingly in there showcasese. There is also avalable free of charge a small gude at the entrance of the museum that provides you with a tour of the museum following all the artefacts afiliated to love and fertility covering the roman and medieval period as well. I would like to offer you a personal tour of the museum if you ever visit us again and hope that you will realise that your caracterisetion as to " avoid " our museum is not totaly fair.

Lovely little museum - the building itself is one of my favourite Cypriot style buildings! It houses some lovely stuff - just enough to keep your interested and not too much that you get bored - so a good filler if you have an hour or so spare - but not perhaps a destination museum!

Worth a quick visit. Display could be more inventive. Many object are the same and young children soon become bored. A good place to escape the sun

This museum proves that size does not make the museum. This small family museum with an interesting past is wonderful. The story of how the family came into the possession of the artifacts alone is worth the visit. Most of these 'recovered' artifacts came as a result of a great deal of searching and funding by this family. The artifacts came from private collections outside Cyprus and were returned to Cyprus. As a result what you see is of the highest quality, and a great deal of it is outside the financial reach of public museums. The 'Screaming Man' alone is worth the visit. Take the time to examine the hand work and technology required to produce these ancient artifacts. Ask the question - how did people so many millennium ago produce products of this quality. The glass exhibit is a sight to behold. This glass looks like it is new - not several millennium old. This is not a museum that you just enter and stroll past multiple rooms filled with bric-a-brac. If you happen to walk outside, take a look at the unrestored Rolls Royce - not a part of the museum but surely part of the family. Tread softly as the Grandfather still resides in this mid 1800s house. Ask the grandson about the family history and the history of Cyprus. This is a wonderful museum well worth the stop.

I wouldn't fly to Cyprus just to see the Pierides museum, but if you're anywhere near Larnaca you should definitely go. The national museum in Nicosia has a better collection, but Pierides definitely ranks second. The history of the family and their museum alone is worth it. The strong sides are the prehistoric collection, the Byzantine stoneware (a/k/a pots and pans), and the maps of Cyprus. The latter contains some pretty rare pieces (originals by Mercator and Ortelius), but suffers from poor labeling. Read the fine print on the maps themselves.

Small and old museum....better things to do rather than visit the Pierides museum. If ur a freak museum although u can pay a visit..there are some interesting historical artifacts..
