Although we only saw it by air, it is a spectacular site.We will be returning when we have more time to visit the area properly.

We were fortunate to see the Lake Full of water in 2010 & again in 2012.I can highly recommend hiring a plane, when the lake is full of water, it's the best way to view the landscape and wildlife. The white expanse of the Salt Lake when dry is also an extraudinary. If you love nature and the quiet beauty of the outback, you will love this experience.

We took the oodnadatta road to go with our 4x4. Exceptionnal and amazing, so wonderfull view. Very impressive, something never saw before!

Traveling by road is fairly good going by oodnadatta track. Once you are at lake eyre there are tracks everywhere, good maps are a must, spare tyres, food. It is a massive inland lake, it will test out your 4x4 skills in the area. I would defiantly have a sat phone and GPS for this trip. Right now heaps of water, and the heat of the day is not too bad! The wild life is surprising, but for 4x4 and camping.. The best. Just be prepared it is a long way from anywhere! I found the extra Jerry can was a comfort.

Have not yet visited lake eyre Basin --it must be excellent as it is Australian. Looking forward to joining all our lucky nomads venturing our great outback.

We were fortunate enough to see Lake Eyre with quite a bit of water in it and it was truly spectacular. It's difficult to get a real perspective of the size of this lake unless you see it from air but even from the road (Oodnadatta Track) it is still quite something.

Very beautiful to see this lake. As this lake is huge lake and second largest inland salt lake in the world then it is hard to visit everything by car. By fly you can see the entire lake. When we traveled in the Oodnadatta road, we visited this lake. Worth to visit this place in your life time.

I can recommend the 2.5 hour flight over lake Eyre. The water is diminishing very rapidly but we managed to see the bird life and wonderful scenery that is part of this huge salt lake in the centre of Australia. Our pilot was a great guide and had lots of facts and figures which made the trip very entertaining. We flew out of Marree, after a red dust storm that covered us and every thing we owned!

Used Air Central West to fly over the chanel country and the northern part of Lake Eyre. Excellent day departed at 7am and arrived back in LOngreach at 6pm. Very expensive $1,650 per person. We thought the pilot could have given a better commentary considering the price. Hours of flying can become boring if you dont know wht you are looking at. However the chanel country and the vastness of the country was really beautiful from the air. We stopped at Birdsville for lunch which was terrible but overall it was a great day.

We went with Air Central West in a Cessna 210, it is the only way to go. You fly over the Channel Country, Lake Eyre. Cooper Creek and the deserts. You visit Birdsville, William Creek, Innamincka, Cooper Creek, the Dig Tree and Windorah. The pilot was excellent, friendly, and looked after us.Everything about our tour was done well. Highly recommended.
