minicoy island

I had visited it during the Minicoy Festival in December 2012. This is an apt place if you want to enjoy the lovely scenery, water, calm, as well as the adventure of scuba diving! Govt accommodation is available but as I understand, its only for the Govt. staff and their family. The island preserves its ecology as much as it can. The best time to go is of course in winter season (December, Jan). We traveled by Ship and that itself was an experience in itself! Wow! Cam back with amazing photos and memories!

Woooow...we went,we saw,we loved it...dis is a magical wonderland...d most beautiful of all Lakshadweep Islands as it's close proximity to maldives.we went for a day,as we spend many days in kerela,but we enjoyed every bit.Did kayaking,snorkelling n scuba diving,glass bottom ride,visited d light house...awesome xperience,clear azure waters,mesmerising beauty..food served on Island as part of package was delicious.Must visit destination.

Visited oct'2013, Minicoy....oh minicoy..... why I'm even writing the review... if you go to lakshadweep....just go to this place...serene, awesome, heavenly, pristineblue waters....white beach and its' so clear in sunny day that for 1-1.5 km inside the sea we can see the earth level inside the water...and more better.....depth will not be more than 5-5.5 feetwhen we did the scuba here (pity they didn't have underwater camera...it felt like the NFDC advertisement where you sea fishes of all color...blue, black, white, yellow... so many fishes and they just flew past us...

no words to describe to this place..awesome...nice beaches,..very good scenery..i have been here for 3 days..very tough to reach...but its worthcorn: reach 2.food 3. accomadationpro: beaches....

We visited Minicoy as part of Samudram package from Lakshadweep tourism department. Words will not do any justice to describe the beauty of this island. One has to just visit to experience the beauty and serenity it brings in. we just sat there and stared into the clear blue waters seemed to stretch until eternity. Cleanest of all islands we visited and the best of all i have ever visited. Go there if you haven't already before Govt bans entry !!

Lakshadweep samudram package-Our second stop aboard ship MV Kavaratti was the island of Minicoy. White sands, clear turquoise waters and an alluring resort in the backdrop welcomed us. The ride on the narrow roads en route from the dock to the beach has lush greenary and is refreshing. We walked about a kilometer from the beach to the lighthouse. The view atop the lighthouse is absolutely breathtaking! Bicycles are also available which could use to ride around the island, as the trees adjoining the cemented roads provide good shade and shelter from the harsh sun.While on the beach, we plunged into the cool waters enjoying swimming, kayaking and playing beach ball on the shore. [After few hours theres algae floating around in the waist high waters, thats a little annoying]The lunch served by the locals consisted of the typical Indian menu of rice, dal and chapatti , all cooked in coconut oil. Non-veg dishes were of tuna and chicken.Later in the afternoon we went into the deeper waters for Scuba diving in a glass-bottom boat. The instructors are well trained and give you initial training on underwater breathing with the scuba gear. This was my first time scuba diving and I was absolutely awestruck. While underwater the view seemed like scenes from the movie "Finding Nemo" :D Its abound with clownfishes, sting rays , turtles and of course the beautiful and massive corals.In the evening we visited the village, where we did learn a bit about their history. We were also served coffee/ coconut water along with a sweet dish. It was a native delicacy made of coconut, rice flour and jaggery all steam in a leaf. It was delicious.The local women dressed in white and green burkhas are very orthodox and did not talk to the tourists. Mahl is their native language.Thus ended our day, as we headed back to the dock and back on our ship.I would recommend tourits to stay a day or two on the Minicoy Island. I strongly recommend Lakshadweep to all scuba diving enthusiasts. PADI also offers professional certification here which I intend to attend later this year. Cant wait to be back there.:)

Had the opportunity to visit the island of Minicoy as a part of the SAMUDRAM tour programme conducted by SPORTS - the nodal agency for promotion of tourism in Lakshadweep.Reached the island by boat from the ship which remained anchored in deeper waters. The light blue water and the beautiful white sandy beach took our breath away at the first sight. The long stretch of waist -deep water is ideal for kayaking by amateurs like us or for just lazing in the water. The old lighthouse is a place to see in the island.

Stayed at the Minicoy Island Resort for 5 nights having arrived on the M.V. Lakshadweep Sea and departed on the M.V. Kavaratti. Hotel was fairly simple: chalet style rooms but quite spartan inside, 2 adjacent single beds with very hard mattresses & pillows. Outdoor bathroom with cold water only and a major issue with mosquitos. Decent air-con and no wifi in the resort. Wifi is, however, available 5km away in town and the resort makes a bicycle available so you can ride there.Food in the resort was surprsingly good and plentiful.Diving was excellent and the dive staff very helpful. Only trouble is that during bad weather it's not possible to go out.

This is a place where you can just sit & see the time flew by. White sand, turquoise water of the Lagoon, a few water sports also. Good food but don't expect anything gourmet meal. Here nature is only important which inflicts a calmness inside mind.

I was on the way from Agatti to Cochin in the great ship MV Kavaratti. I spent a whole day there.Thanks to my friend Althaf, who took me all around. Had breakfast and lunch in his 143 yr old beautiful antique house. Visited the hospital, Navodaya school,Snake boat, Light house, nearby resort, desalination plant, Eastern jetty as well as the whole circumference of the island.I was lucky to experience the village culture of the people with their unique houses and tasty dishes.Its more green than any other islands in Lakshadweep as the soil is so fertile. Worth another visit.

We went to Minicoy as a part of the Lakshadweep Tourism Samudram package cruise. We had a great time with snorkelling at Minicoy. We visited the lighthouse which had great views. We spent the entire day on the beach and it was totally worth it. Make sure you travel only during the winter though as the summer would be scorching. We got sun burnt in December!

Stunningly beautiful and out of this world,this island is the best among all the islands,the lagoon is superb,the best time to visit october to march.The snorekelling and scuba diving at its best.The view from the light house, which is 216 steps climb,is mind blowing.The alcohol is not allowed on any of the islands of Lakshadweep.there are tourists cottages and you may book through the Laksadweep tourism and can stay there in the most beautiful part of the world and laze around.There are various packages are available from 2 nights to 5 nights,you may choose as per your time available.It is good for couple,family.

Since close to Maldives , geographical topography are very similar to that. Ocean is bare 2 to 3 fee deep for 1 or 2 kilometer. blue sky nice place for kayaking. snorkeling, glass bottom boat. a lot of tortoise can be seen really big and huge. they will come to sea shore. a mass school children are playing some water sports game. good view from beach hut. water volleyball enjoyable. light house is amazing.view from the top of light house is magnificent. restaurant near sea shore prepares good food. one can eat coconut sweet. visit to hosiery factory some pure good quality cotton product are available.

I travelled in May month that was ending season, Clear water look like swimming pool, coral reaf, long stretches of lagoons, White sands, thousands type of sea fishes and other, prefer timing oct to april. connectivity through boat to sea little risky during ending season, You require permit to travel islands, there are total abt 32 island, you can visit 3-4 islands, there are packages of 2 islands 3 islands etc, I going by package , permit will be part of it
