Housed in an old mansion it has an eclectic collection of Picasso prints, old masters but not famous ones, and local artwork.

A wonderful little museum in honor of the great poet. Many literary items on display, as well as other historical items typical of a well-to-do Nicaraguan family home at the turn of the century. The museum is a nice showcase of colonial architecture and there is beautiful little courtyard where you can sit and read your favorite poetry book.

As a Spanish major, of course I wanted to visit the Museo Rubén Darío. And it was worth it.The library was spectacular, at least to me, and I liked how they renovated the house.

Best to have a good English guide then everything is more interestingNever knew anything about this writer but quite fascinating. We were with a ship's excursion but assume you have to pay for entrance.

Still not sure how any Dario's there are as it seems cousins had the same name.Don't know why he was so famous as nothing is in English and there are no guides available.

Leon is very proud of its native son, poet, writer, and sometime diplomat Ruben Dario. In addition to this museum, there is a nearby street and a park named after him. One evening while I was in Leon, I attended a public poetry event at the park, also called Park los Poetas. Streets were closed near the park, seats were provided for the public, and about 20 people - kids through adults, male and female - declamed poetry, both their own and that of Dario. On a nearby wall was painted Sin Poesia No Hay Ciudad - Without Poetry There Is No City.

We enjoyed the museum even though our Spanish is not good. Suggested donation upon entry. We learned a little about Dario and are looking forward to reading some of his translated work.

The museum is nice and generally interesting but I you don't speak Spanish fluently, it just some artifacts and a general sense of the importance of this man. If you have a little more knowledge of the history or Nicaragua or the literature then I think this museum would be very enjoyable

Ruben Dario is very important to the Nicas, but only the more informed travelers will have knowledge and understanding of this man. The exhibits of his personal effects may have appeal to the scholarly. But as a rube, it didn't do too much for me.

Enjoyed seeing the book collection, some of the furniture he used and the history. An amazing man with a great mind that led a poor, tough life. Great that they have recovered so much of his work and items he used. Very inspiring. I do recommend a local informed bi-lingual guide if you don't know the language. He is loved and admired by these people and worth learning about.

I love every little thing that this beautiful city has gather and put together so well of the everyday life of one of the greatest poets our beautiful Nicaragua has given to the world to make it more beautiful and kind for all of us. I wish I could add to the collection photos from the Museum of the City of New York of the time Ruben Dario called New York City his temporary home. Where he wrote some of his most beautiful poems.

This museum is 98% in Spanish. The university of Leon maintains a small garden adjacent to a few rooms that contain objects from two famous poets. It is unfortunately that there isnt an English version that does the poetry justice. I heard that Ruben Darios work Azul is quite marvelous to read. He had an extremely hard life, growing up in this house with adopted parents. I believe that the room that contains a library has little use here. I did like the presentations of the currency and books first editions that the poet wrote. The paintings were also interesting to view. Otherwise I think the average American would not enjoy this museum.

I would only go here if I had extra time. I would not plan my time around being here. I have rated it a 3 because there was no cost! The courtyard is beautiful and the period furniture is interesting. If some things were available to read in English I'm sure the experience would have been way more meaningful. Even if someone could have explained anything in English it would have been beneficial. This museum is not much of an experience unless you have a Spanish guide or understand Spanish.

It was very interesting to visit this museum as part of our walking tour of Leon with Julio of Julio's Tours. We learned a lot.
