Although the guide was very nice, the horse spooked and ran into the trees. Being an inexperienced rider, I was unable to control him. He ran into a branch and even though I ducked I got a big scratch on my back which left a scar.

We took the 1.5 hr trip around Arenal area. The horses were very well behaved and the employees were wonderful. Very easy to drive up and get a guided tour without having to take a hotel tour. We drove up and they got the horses ready while we were there. Great ride with Issac as a guide. He pointed out wildlife and plants told giving us the history of the area.Jonathan and Issac were great. Very friendly and helpful. I'd recommend this company to may friends and would use them again if in the area.

I can't thank enough Augustine for his prompt response when my horse and I were stung by wasps. He jumped out of that horse to my rescue. Very professional and pleasant. Extremely happy with his guidance.

A wonderful morning with Diego and Banana. Sunshine and juicy guavas. Very soft saddle and the horses were healthy and well fed.

We took a 2 hour ride at Wilberth stables in late October. Our group was 4 including my wife and two daughters 24 and 28. The easiest way to contact wilberth is at their web site. I looked for their office in Fortuna and had some difficulty. It is actually in the Arenal Hostel resort behind a gate. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The location is on a rough gravel road about 8 miles from Fortuna. Further on the same road are other attractions. Our guide was Enrique. He is a very nice person and is very interested in making the ride a memorable one for everyone. We had 6 total in our group. Enrique gave good instruction which is important for most of us that ride infrequently. This is not a simple walking ride on a smooth path. Their is considerable opportunity to trot and cantor, so you need to be a bit careful. The trail goes up and down hills, through pastureland, woods and jungle areas. Enrique takes great pleasure in answering questions and talking about the birds and plant life. He even explained the reason you see so many ants carrying pieces of leaves. The price is very reasonable - $58 each for a 2 hour ride. I recommend Wilberth and Enrique to all !

Wilberth Stables staff delivered a great experience from hotel pick up to a fun time riding horses and learning about plants and animals in the area. Our guide Hector went out of his way to make the ride fun and entertaining. Thank you!

We had a great ride with Enrique as our guide. Only two us signed up so we got a private tour and it was beautiful. Had a sunny day with clear views of the volcano which made it even nicer. Got the trot and canter quite a bit as well which brought back childhood memories of riding! Great way to spend an afternoon!

The guide was amazing. The horseback ride around the volcano was one experience of my trip in Costa Rica that I will not forget. Everyone was friendly, and the pick-up/drop-off service was clean and on time.

The horseback riding was amazing! Excellent tour and great service. Our tourguide was amazing, he was very nice and knowledgeable. The horses facilities looked nice and they all looked as if they were well treated, which made it even better. The grounds for the horseback riding were beautiful, you're right near the volcano and able to see the water. The price was very reasonable, I think $30 an hour per person. For that price I suggest everyone participate, it was really a highlight of our trip and we had a great time.

We had passed by Wilberth Stables going to Skytram, and made reservations by phone the next day. We are traveling with our two sons ages 16 and 12, who had never ridden horses before. Our guide Ronald, had us up on our respective horses with in minutes, and with good instructions on how to proceed. It was one of the rare clear days, where Arenal was brilliantly visible and view of the lake we amazing as well. Our trail took us through a working farm, through the forest, up and down hills. The horses were pretty well matched, and mine had a good deal of spirit, but manageable. I had not ridden a horse for some years, nor had my wife, but it was good to be in the saddle again. Both our sons, who had never ridden did exceedingly well for their first time. I think perhaps my 12 year could have done more to get his horse Pink going but she gave him a good ride. She would sometime stop to nibble and he would scream, "No comes hasta despues! " (Don't eat until later!). We all had the opportunity to pick up the pace, and all horses dutifully followed Ronald's horse as he led. To hear the giggling yells from our sons was fun as well. Ronald stopped and showed us many things along the way: Birds, snakes, fruit trees, plants and even an ant colony. He was very knowledgable about Arenal, the local animals and history. We tried to practice our Spanish but his English was very good. He was eager to speak with us as he's been studying for only two years. We would highly recommend Wilberth Stables for a well planned ride with amazing views of Arenal. Pura Vida !

FYI, these really seemed like ponies, not horses. Ponies are slightly smaller and can't ride as fast or as smoothly compared to a full horse. The tour guide was very friendly and very helpful, and we had fun, but weren't able to gallop and center very long because the animals were either too small to handle our weight or too old to run very far or something.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area. He also let us taste the local fruits on farm. We were able to try new fruits :) I'd recommend!!

My two boys 14 and 18 went for an hour long ATV TOUR while my wife, friend and her daughter went on an one hour horseback tour. They LOVED it and Ronald did an excellent job as a tour guide. In all two monkeys and three toucans were spotted along the trip. The main guy, Alonso was great, he exuded "PURA VIDA"

My daughter Sofia and I had two wonderful tours with Ronald on our recent trip to Arenal. Ronald was delightful and engaging with my nine year old daughter. It was one of her favorite experiences during our visit in Costa Rica. The farm country was beautiful and rich in interesting features which Ronald pointed out meaningfully and with deep enthusiasm. I would highly recommend this experience in every way! Be sure to bring a camera as there are many opportunities for great shots that you and your guide will be eager to take. We were there in July, so a rain poncho was also useful at moments.
