This little club is just perfect. The music is great. So enjoyable. The place is tiny though, so chances of getting one of the few seats is hard. Cash only bar. If you go to one place for music, this should be it!

We managed to find a seat on the benches along the wall, sat back and enjoyed watching the dancers and listening to the Shotgun Jazz Band - wonderful musicians and the singer had a killer voice! No cover charge and the beers were reasonably priced (we paid about $5 each). We really enjoyed the vibe in this place - everyone was having a great time.

Sure its a small joint, but the personality of this place is HUGE! The two bands I got to enjoy were well worth pushing against the packed crowd. The way the music bounced off every wall just made you love it! Cash bar was a lesson I had to learn but thankfully my colleague had it covered. One Tuesday night we stayed until after 12am and the crowd had thinned out enough there was room to dance.

Visited the Spotted Cat during Mardi Gras time. Loved it! Authentic experience, and incredible music! Yes, it was crowded, but we managed to sit at the bar and met some great, fun people, while listening to an awesome band. A truly memorable experience.

To always have a packed house is great, but The Spotted Cat needs a bigger place. It was brutal to get through the crowd to a spot big enough to move in, then getting a drink from the crowded bar was almost impossible. Tried 2 different times and found no joy in the experience either time. If you were right in front of the stage you could see the musical act, but not visible to anyone else. Your best bet is to listen outside the door!

This was the best New Orleans experience I had so far. I went on a Monday with my friends and the Jazz Vipers were playing their Jazz and it was absolutely fantastic. We stayed all night until 3 when the entire set was over. They even had people swing dancing to the music which was adorable and really added to the atmosphere. To top it off when we went outside we met the Gumbo Man of New Orleans selling Gumbo out of the back of his SUV. Seems a little sketchy to try but it was HANDS DOWN the best Gumbo I had the entire time I was in New Orleans. Five star experience, definitely worth going to.

Especially went to New Orleans during our visit to USA for 3 nights to find Traditional Jazz. It must have been a blues weekend, The Spotted Cat had blues the night we went, could not sit, standing for me (69yo) is difficult so had a beer and left. Toilet was being refurbished so had to go and find elsewhere.

We had a few drinks here waiting for Snug Harbor to open, its a small place and the Jazz seemed pretty good however I thought $8 for a drink was quite high. There is hardly anywhere to sit. So I am not sure if people just stood and watched. Not sure we would go back

During a recent stay on Frenchmen Street we stumbled upon the Spotted Cat. While there are a lot of bars on Frenchmen, the Spotted Cat was by far our favourite. Great bands, friendly staff, good crowd, cheap drinks - what's not to love! Make sure to drop by the Spotted Cat at least once during your New Orleans stay, it's well worth it.

I read all of the reviews including the bad ones and am entirely on the side of the management. This is an excellent place to see little live music in a proper setting. If you want a library or up market seating then go to the theatre. This has a great, raucous atmosphere, fantastic music and a friendly clientele. It was busy but we had no problem being served as long as we were willing to wait for five minutes.A well run place that was really what I expected and wanted from New Orleans.

If you are going to Frenchman street you have to go to the The spotted cat. What a really cool dive bar. Small colorful bar to listen to live Jazz and Blues. We went on Tue night and it was still packed. Plan to stand alot as there is limited seating. The music was awesome and I could of hung out there all night. I liked this bar the best. Plenty of choices for drinks and super friendly staff. There is no cover and the drinks aren't over priced like a night club. Its you local friendly dive bar where you are always welcome to listen to great music.

Loved this place but you can't get a drink or barley see the band show up early early to get a seat and take turns getting drinks

What a great friendly bar to spend some time. Of course never a cover and a home for great live music. It is my oasis to see Shotgun Jazz. Saturday afternoons are never that fun in my hometown....

We had dinner at the Three Muses and then walked to the Spotted Cat. Music was wonderful and the place was packed-. Spotted Cat is about the energy of excellent jazz and blues and the energy of those who love NOLA. There was not fee but we were asked to buy drinks. Be prepared to stand up for a while because there is not enough seating. Very nice and safe place even if you want to visit a bar as a "solo"Love this place!

Forget Bourbon Street, hit Frenchmen Street and enjoy a wonderful evening of live jazz in The Spotted Cat. This is everything you want of the city a quaint little club playing live music.Well done and keep it real - this place restored my faith in New Orleans.
