We completed this as a loop with the Emerald Pools and Grotto trails. This portion is a bit easier than the Emerald Pools. The views are fantastic and photo ops abound.

This is a wide, easy trail that leads from the Emerald Pools down to the Grotto parking lot, with views of the valley and the Virgin River. The only difficulty is in actually finding this trail if you are doing a loop starting from Zion Lodge. Look for a small sign that says “Grotto” between the Lower and Middle Emerald Pools, and follow the directional arrow.

Hiked the trail to upper emerald pools and down. The difficulty was in areas were there were elevation changes and the hiking surface was irregular or had a coating of sand -making surfaces slippery. We liked the lower emerald pool more than the upper pool. The lack of traction made this more difficult than our hike to scouts landing.

As others have said this trail connects with the emerald pools and grotto trails making for a nice hike and some stunning scenery A must do and not difficult.!

Took the emerald pool trail and then connected to this one. I am afraid oh heights but I was able to walk this one fine. There are a couple spots with steep drops, but I just went slow along with encouragement from my husband. Great views of the virgin River looking back. It is about a mile long and when added to the emerald pool trail, it still comes out less than 2 miles.

This is one of the most underrated trails in the park. The path was mainly flat and suitable for all. The views back along the river were stunning and was a perfect way to join up two shuttle stops if the weather suits.

This is a great trail, especially if you do the recommended loop with the grotto and emerald pools trails. Exceptional views without risking your life on the side of sheer drop offs.

This trail connects the Emerald Pools trail with the grotto trail, an easy to moderate walk can do a round trip from the Lodge

Unheralded in the guide books and barely rating a mention in the park newspaper, you'd be forgiven for thinking the Kayenta Trail was no more than a connector linking Angel's Landing with Zion Lodge. But you'd be wrong. This easy 'balcony' walk offers stunning valley views with hardly any effort required. For the best views, start at The Grotto and head south. Then continue up the Emerald Pools Trail to the upper pool before descending to Zion Lodge. A perfect 'moderate' walk!

The trail is great for families. the scenery is beyond words. But, the altitude and heat can be a nasty combination if you are not prepared. Watch for the whiptalied lizards. they are everywhere. Make sure to bring a camera or two.

Best way to see more of the park, including great views of the Virgin River. Took the Lower Emerald Pool trail up, used Kayenta on the way back. It's a nice way to change the view on the way back. Not overly physically challenging, but worth the effort.

This is a nicely groomed trail which connects to the Emerald Pools trails. As you climb up the trail, you get a nice view of the Virgin River and the cliffs on the East side. I suggest going in the evening so you can walk in the shade.

We hiked past the Lower Emerald Pool to the Kayenta Trail and looped around to Grotto. Highly recommend this for a great introduction to the wonders of Zion. The trail is a rocky path with spectacular views of the canyon. It's relatively flat and an easy hike for all ages. The trail was crowded in the beginning but thinned out by Kayenta since most families go to the Emerald Pools. We didn't go to the upper pools since we heard there wasn't much to see. We really enjoyed the solitude and simplicity of the Kayenta trail. We packed sandwiches and found a nice, shady spot by a creek to have a picnic lunch.

Had a great time on this trail. Beautiful views and wasn't too tiring. Very we'll marked and easy for novice hikers. We hiked with two children, ages 8 and 1, and didn't have any problems.
