The fort is in bad shape but is is great history. Wonderful to walk around and see how the area was protected. Beautiful grounds to picnic or for the kids to play. Great views of lighthouses and water. Not much parking. No admission.

It is so beautiful here! Pack a picnic and enjoy the day! It is an interesting walk through the park. So clean and well taken care of.

It was interesting to walk through the different structures, but not amazing. The beach area is rocky shoals, and there were nice views of the water. Good for a short visit, maybe an hour, and the price was right (free). We had a nice walk and took some pictures, but there isn't enough to do or see to spend the day.

There is no entrance fee to this attraction and limited parking in front. The place is great for those wanting to spend time on the water and have a picnic in the area in front of the fort. The place has a lot of history. A fort was built on the site prior to the American Revolution and later enlarged. At the end of the 18th century, large guns were installed and later removed. During the 20th century, more guns were placed there and later removed. Most of the place is cordoned off from the public and is in disrepair. The main building is also in terrible shape and it also is off limits to the public. In fact, it makes Ft Constitution, which is in bad shape, seem great. This is just another piece of history that has been abandoned and will probably be destroyed as time goes by.

This is a low-key attraction. If you like being on the seacoast, watching birds, enjoying a picnic or hunting geocaches then this park will meet your needs. We love it.

Fort Stark is the best remaining example of an early 20th century coastal fortification on the New Hampshire Seacoast thanks to benign neglect. Because of this, it is inadvisable to bring younger children to this site, which is full of crumbling concrete bunkers. The site is usually closed, but there is a small museum that is open on occasion. Like other forts, it does offer fine views of the waters around it, the entrance to Portsmouth Harbor to the northern side, the Atlantic to the east, and Little Harbor to the south and southwest, so it would be of interest for photographers or nature lovers looking for something well off the beaten path.

Been to the Fort Stark site a couple of times and its always a scenic and peaceful place to stroll about. The fort dates back over 100 years but was made redundant after WWII and now is a park. There is a small parking area for a dozen or more cars. While that area has always been open when I have visited I understand at times it is closed off. If you park on the street and are not a New Castle (town) resident with a sticker it will result in a parking fine.Entrance if free. There are self guided pamphlets on the large sign in the parking area. You can climb upon some of the remains and over to the water. The part of the facility that dates from around WWI is chained off as its unsafe. Nice that this has been preserved as a public use area. As not many people visit here its also a great place to have some privacy as well.

This would be a fantastic attraction if only it could be refurbished. The main building of the Fort is closed off the the public. We were told that the floor could cave in. Although, there is one part that you could walk into, if you dare to. No lights and dark and scary. But if you go around the Fort to the beach side the view is very beautiful. You have to walk on rocks as there is no beach thereThe Fort was built to look like a battleship and used to blow up mines in the Piscataqua River. It would be great is the Park Commission would take some time to fix it up some so you could tour itMost importantly there is no parking there until summer. They open a very small parking lot. The police WILL give you a $25 fine if you park in a no parking area there, even in the winter. We happen to walk from the Hotel we were staying at, The Wentworth by the Sea.Do so see it though as it is part of the history of New Hampshire. My husband loves to go and look around.

very nice for someone who has not lived on the coast as I have all my life. To me it is average. I was looking for sea glass and did find some
