old sled works

Antiques to kitsch to 'county collectible' stuff - but mostly it is just fun walking around checking out the booths and finding that one thing you must buy. Plus it is the old sled works factory so there is a bit of a museum explaining that as well. This is similar to many other antique/flea market sites in PA, but still - for whatever reason, this one is my favorite. There is a 1950's style ice cream parlor in the back - but so far I've not been there when they are open so can't speak to what the food or service is like - but it sure looks authentic.

If you want to step back in time, look for interesting home decor, or just want to appreciate the past, this place is for you! A true landmark in little ol' Duncannon. Be sure to go when the soda fountain is open. Also, don't bother too much with the arcade games. They sometimes eat your money. Lots of handmade items from local vendors but also items you'd find at a yard sale like old VHS tapes or kitchen appliances. Worth the time if you're patient and have some ideas of what you want.

The Old Sledworks is well, an old sled factory - how cool is that? It's pretty big and stuffed full of good antiques. Items are nicely displayed & priced, must be consignment because some sections have 10% off or 20% off signs. When you walk in the front door the first thing you see is a display of old TVs that all work & are turned on to the same show. I'm talking TVs from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, and 70s, I'm amazed that they still work - this alone is worth the trip! All the Staff members that we encountered were friendly, and I liked that near the checkout area they have big empty shelves where you can place items you are going to buy, instead of lugging them around while you are shopping. I found numerous things I wanted & so did my husband. We thought the prices were reasonable & will definitely go here again.

Just another antique store, really no different than the many in PA and Maryland, except this one is in the Lightning Guider sled factory. Cool water tower across the street, and watch for hikers while driving in Duncannon.

They have a lot of different vendors and a lot of different things that catch your eye. The staff there are always friendly and are willing to help you.

Love that this place has free parking on the opposite side of the road. Lots of antiques to look at. A large building. You can easily spend three hours here looking around. Most things are reasonable priced.

After doing a review of the fab Doyles hotel, this great spot is the next place to visit in Duncannon. I was doing the mad thing, thru-hiking the AT, having trecked over 800 miles when I dropped down to sample the old America. The place is amazing, a real timewarp of a place. The 1950`s diner will never be forgotten by this world master traveller. All that chromium steel, the soda fountains, pinball machines, all that was missiing was Fonzzy to stroll right in and give the juck box a good slap. A goldmine of treasures of the best era`s that America gave the world, 30`s to the 50`s. I was late getting back onto the AT due to me playing on those pinball machines for half the afternoon.If I ever return to the States, Duncannon, Doyles hotel and this sled works are going to be seen again. We usually stop in here every few months on our way through. Never know what you might find in this place. Vendors and merchandise are always changing. We like to just stroll the aisles and see what we might find. Would recommend this place to others for both antiques and new items.

A huge variety of things books to collectables. Takes you back 100 years. Pin ball and old times machines to play. The snack bar has great shakes.

Do you remember a time when kids weren't zombies who stared at video screens and smart phones all day long? Do you remember a time when social networking meant your parents invited some folks over for wine and fondue? Do you remember the taste of a Coke a Cola that you drank out of a real glass bottle? If you can remember these things, then the Old sled works is for you. Cool antiques, an awesome old school arcade with retro pinball and skeeball and ice cold coke. THE place for a retrospective of growing up in America. Take your kids and explain to them what a record is, show them how silly phones looked back in the day and watch the three stooges on a 1950's style tv while sitting on authentic barber chairs.

This is a large fully packed antique center with something for everyone ,spend an hour ,spend a day. You won't be disappointed

This is a huge set of antique booths, overseen by a few employees- so questions are quickly answered but there is no pressure to buy, no one watching you browse. There were very intriguing items I have not seen in many decades and I was pleasantly surprised by their very reasonable prices. It feels like part museum, part fascinating shopping destination. It is extensive and looking through it could easily take hours. On top of all this, it was a sled factory and has a wide array of very interesting historic sleds. This is the kind of place that, if it were closer to NYC, it would be jammed and the prices would be sky high. It is a hike away from most other interesting destinations but I was surprised to find out that it's worth the trip. I think it has a ramp to enter the one story structure but I can't remember. It has ample free parking right across the street from the front door.
