On our trip across the U.S. in an RV in October we stayed overnight at Turtle River State Park. It is conveniently located right off the highway. The overnight rate was only $18.00 plus a $5.00 vehicle fee. This included electricity. Due to the time of year, the water wasn't on. There is a central pump out station. The park itself is lovely, with lots of trees and great hiking paths throughout the park. While we were visiting there was a 12 hour running race going on, so we passed many participants during our walk. The main lodge offers free wi-fi access which is available during office hours or 24 hours on the outside patio.

Turtle River is a nice place to stay and relax for a few days. It is far enough away to have some quiet, but close enought to Grand Forks or Devils Lake if you want to check out the cities. It had been about a week since they had sprayed for mosquitos...so that was a bit troubling. To be on the safe side, you may want to plan on spraying yourself. The camp is pretty well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They have activities planed for families. My only issues for our trip was the size of the camping area. While they do have pull though sights, some of the sites are very close together. We only have a 21ft camper trailer. One really would have to disconnect and tuck your vehicle into a free space. I would suggest the bigger sites if you want to leave your vehicle connected. All in all, it was a good site for a couple days of a camping getaway.

We were visiting my wife's grandma and brought our trailer out from Oregon (we hit glacier on the way back). Turtle River is absolutely great. The entire park is very well maintained. They sprayed the main campgrounds the day before we arrived so no major Mosquitos issues. We stayed at Larimore dam recreation, about 4 miles down the road as well. In comparison, it was awful. The sites have water and electric. They have trees and vegetation between the sites for privacy, a big bonus! Playground and river for kids to play in.

I stopped here planning to go on a short hike with my daughter while driving from Grand Forks to Devils Lake. The staff person at the visitor centre was not very friendly, and the trails were poorly signed and maintained. The cabins looked like they would be nice, but we're not likely to return.

In the midst of a flat, flat glacial lake bed, here is an oasis. An attractive manned welcome center with a host of maintained camping sites. I second the other reviews included here.

Great camping, lots of fishing of trout, bass, catfish. Poles available for kids at check-in desk. Cabins available with six bunks, showers and private bathroom. No cooking in cabins. Full hook-up for RV and tenting areas. Lots of wildlife. Friendly park rangers. Prices are good. Lots of Mosquitos so take lots of repellant. 25 miles from Grand Forks. I recommend this for great camping.

I was at Turtle River State Park for a wedding. I did not spend the night in the cabins, but it is in a beautiful spot, there are several trails for walking and biking, It's a fun place to spend time with friends and family.

Beautiful, well maintained park - perfect for spending a day with nature - A must-see if you are in the area

I am glad I booked the cabins at TRSP, rather than booking hotels at Grandforks. The cabin was clean and had a very modern washroom with showers. There is no kitchen and there was a fire ban and I didnt have a propane stove. Thats my fault. Lots of trees and trails. The river was basically a trickle. But walking around the park was a very nice experience. The staff were excellent and well mannered. They explained everything perfectly. They are surely an asset to the park and to those who plan on coming again like me. We saw a a couple of deer in the parking lot. Its a nice place for a family vacation.

Great place relative to the location. There are some decent mountain biking trails as well as nice camping areas. Never did any fishing there, but I've seen quite a people getting their feet wet.

Turtle River State Park is a very veristile park. You can fish, hike mountian bike, camp and just enjoy nature in the summer. In the winter there is a sledding hill with a warming house and cross country skiing. Very peaceful place to be!

Finally, a great family campground that's not overcrowded! Great place for camping, fishing, hiking, biking... apparently great place for skiing also, though I myself, have never done this. We have camped at TRSP many times, and have returned because of the great staff, children's programs, awesome park experience and the fact that its only 20 minutes from Grand Forks, should the shopping bug bite! It is well maintained and treed just enough for privacy and shade. The park rangers are ever present, making sure the rules are followed. This definitely makes it easy to avoid camping by party animals all weekend. Feels more like a real wilderness experience than alot of campgrounds. Definitely bring a bike, if possible, and walking shoes!
