洛马岬

There is a hiking trail that is not so obvious to find that runs from the road near the visitors center. You walk down the road then the trailhead starts and runs down along the water in front of the visitors center. It gets a little steep but is very pleasant.

This was our third visit to SD Zoo, the last time was about 4 years ago.Lots of improvements being made with the smaller exhibits being improved for the benefit of both the animals and the visitors!Lots of good signage and information, so we always learn something new each time we visit.The zoo is in a very hilly area and one of the major escalators were not working but buying the package that included the unlimited use of the Kangaroo Bus was well worth it as we did not have top walk up the hills!The Zoo tour was exceptional with both great views of the animal enclosures and the commentary from the enthusiastic driver/guide .... even though it was the last tour of the day.

This is a must do for you visit to San Diego. I haven't been since I was a kid so I had forgotten how great this place is! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area, it is an awesome way to spend a few hours. Try to go during low tide so you can check out the tide pools.

You are at such. High elevation you can see all of downtown San Diego, miles out into the Pacific and all of the way to Mexico. You also drive by the Western National Cemetary and see many thousands burial sites of our military heroes. You can see the lighthouse and the monument. We were surprised to see how much there was to see. Very well worth it.

To get to Point Loma you drive through a Federal Navy base. Part of the road splits the Rosecrans National Cemetery on both side of the road. A sacred sight to see, all of the white headstones. From the point you see boats going into and out of the San Diego Harbor. Visit the lighthouse and visitors center.

Point Loma is variety of old, new, cultural, and historical with several highlights of Navy influence. In about 15 minutes you can go from the submarine base at one end to the Coast Guard base on the other end, or travel from marina on the south to the cliffside beach on the north.

Enjoyed our drive to the Point Loma area. Beautiful clear day & what an amazing view from above. A must do in San Diego!

If you have never been to San Diego this is worth the drive. Fantastic views, great beach for gazing, and lots of history. The military cemetery along the way is also a must see.

A must see while in the San Diego area. The views on the drive to the point are amazing. You reach the tide pools just before the lighthouse. Time your trip for when the tide is low and you will be able to see much more. The lighthouse at the point is very old and has been turned into a sort of museum, pretty interesting. We were surprised at the great views of San Diego as well as all of the Navy installations. Don't miss the Cemetery and former bunkers that are still in the hill. Although we didn't see any whales, they have a nice walking path with educational kiosks. Well done.

The tide pools were the original drive to the park, but this Ohio gal forgot to factor in high tide. We missed the tide pools, but got to experience views I've never imagined. The waves on the huge stones were breathtaking. It is a great area to walk around, with some mild "hiking " possible. Totally worth the $5 you have to pay to enter into the park.

We tried to get to Point Loma last Monday, which turned out to be President's Day. This is a strange day where the children don't go to school and public sector workers have the day off, but not other people. We thought we would get the bus to Point Loma and have a walk round but one of the busses does not run on holidays and the other has a strange Saturday or Sunday service, no one could tell us which, and finished the route early. After about an hour's walk we got to the US Naval base and were turned back and told it was about 3 miles along another road, which was not connected to the one we were on. We gave up and had a lovely walk back along the beach. Advise: check out the buses and the roads if you think you want to do this.

The military cemetery was very moving. The gravestones were all white and in uniform size and placement. The stones sloped down on each side of the point with spectacular ocean views. Just after the toll entrance to the Cabrillo National Monument there is a road to the right that goes down to the ocean. That view took my breathe away. There are some tide pools down there to see.The Cabrillo National Monument was a must see as well with beautiful views of San Diego and Coronado island below.

Its casual, the cooking is basic, but the fish, lobsters and shellfish- so fresh!A good place to enjoy outdoor self service sunny seating with a menu of shellfish and oysters, plain grilled fish, fish&chips, fish tacos and sloppy joes.

Point Loma is only 20 minutes drive from Downtown San Diego, yet it seems a world away, as you sit next to the seashore, listening to the waves crash against the rocky shore. There is a beautiful lighthouse and there are historical points of interest. The views from the top of the point, near the lighthouse, are spectacular!
