Trails, trails, and more trails. Picnic areas were really good, nature at its best! Be careful not to get lost,

Fairly quiet place away from the city; clean park with a lot of space. Watch for deer as they love the park too.

There is nothing like the smell of the pines in the fall. Quiet getaway and beautiful in the fall. Could use a little more parking

We got married outside the shelter house two years ago. The setting was beautiful and the shelter house was great on a hot day since they installed air conditioning. It was a great casual venue at a modest cost.

We had only a short time to spend here, but the diversion to this park was worth the effort. We walked from a visitor's center to the dunes and back. Wife liked having benches placed along the path for rests, although the benches appear at unequal intervals. Good fall color, even in early October.

If you are looking for a beautiful place over the water to get married Oak Openings has just the place. It's a beautiful park and any age group would enjoy this park. The walking trails are great and there's a lot of animals that roam freely there to enjoy!

I was on a guided tour, as part of the OH Prairie Assocn Annual Conference, looking at an area of Oak Openings that was hit by a tornado in 2010. The history behind just this area of the park is so interesting. The research undertaken and the continued dedication to restoring this area of the park is inspiring. Overall the park was scenic and full of visitors biking, hiking, playing and even celebrating a wedding. I wish I could have stayed longer as it was such a beautiful area.

Don't care what anyone says, Oak Openings is the crown jewel of the Toledo Metroparks system. Also, it's a five-minute drive from my house. Take a short walk around Mallard Lake, a longer walk around Evergreen Lake, or hop on the bike or horse and range the miles of trails. It even ties in to the Wabash Cannonball trail system, so you can ride your bike to the park from Monclova or Wauseon if you want without encountering too many cars.A lot of the park is managed-growth, planted pine forest, but there is plenty to see of the old-growth oaks and even the sand dunes -- yes, sand dunes in Northwest Ohio -- off Girdham Road. I'm told there's prickly pear cacti growing there, but I haven't seen any.Wildlife photographer? Take your camera. Lazy wildlife photographer? Take your camera to the Window on Wildlife at Mallard Lake. Watch the red squirrels and chipmunks fight, watch the mourning doves ignore the blue jays and goldfinches and occasional scarlet tanager. You might even see deer if you go in the winter.Playgrounds for the kids, picnic areas and "primitive" (they supply firewood, you supply everything else) camping too.

This scenic park has great kid friendly areas to play. The specialized mulch helps not to get them dirty but provides that cushion if they fall!

The rare sand dunes alone are worth a visit... Miles and miles of marked walking, horse, bike, and even dirt bike trails.. Tip... Ride the wabash cannonball bike trail out there from fallen timbers.

Visited this park a few times while in the area, and have seen different parts of it each time! There are so many beautiful paths and different things to see every time. Even if I lived in the area I dont think I could ever get bored of this beautiful place!

This park is very large and beautiful. I came here in the late fall (when everything is dead) and it was still very beautiful. Clean park with well maintained trails. I went biking and really enjoyed it! Will be visiting again soon.

This place has variety of hiking from pine forest to small sand dune area. We saw two beautiful I think baltimore orioles. My son spotted a 4 foot green snake that we saw go very quickly away from us. It reared its head to look at us and then slithered away. It was a very fun walk, but our little dog Sophie managed to get 7 ticks on her which we of course removed. Oh, yes and someone actually brought their pet rabbit on their hike, she let our Sophie sniff her. Very cute.I would recommend a hike here.

What a beautiful place to walk the trails, see lots of wildlife, picnic, take pictures and relax. Oak Openings is one of the Toledo MetroParks and is very well kept.

Wonderful place to get away from the city and take a leisurely walk through the woods. Lots of things to do here including hiking, biking, fishing and horseback riding among other things. Great park for photography as well.
