In a very beautiful part of Arizona sits this State Park. Remember, due to budget cuts they are only open on the weekends. Miles and miles of trails to hike and a delightful historic ranch house tour done by volunteers. A great story and beautiful architecture. The ranch tour is not handicap accessible but they are very accomodating with knowledge and literature.

We went in a lovely hike and toured the Kennally Ranch Home. The home was very interesting and well interpreted. I could easily live here. Bring a picnic lunch as there are tables and views at the ranch house.

The whole of Oracle State Park is a day-use-only wildlife preserve and a center for environmental education, working largely with school groups, which also has many hiking trails. We went because we wanted to see the Kannally Ranch House, a four-level adobe built 1929-33, which has wonderful views and excellent landscaping. The property originally had a small ranch house, then two brothers and two sisters in the Kannally family settled here, and built the larger adobe house. But the only bedroom in the house (in the lowest level) was for the cook. None of the four siblings married, and the youngest had all family records destroyed. The house is only open on weekends, with self-guided tours, and guided tours at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The tour was very informative, but we really should have gone through again afterward to read the many displays and look at things more closely. We'll do that next time, because I'm sure we'll go again when we're in the area.

We toured the Kannally Ranch House and hiked wonderful trail. The house is full of history, visually very attractive, and contains period pieces. It also has lovely area for a pocnic. The hike was great and many more, longer and shorter ones, are readily available. It is quiet and peaceful. Great views across the valley - great vegetation, including AZ oaks. Had late lunch at the Patio Cafe. Very happy day and only 30+ miles from Tucson.
