Yesterday was a special one for me emotionally and personally and the atmosphere and care of the staff was sublime and the Head cheffis a GENIUS - WITHOUT question he should be on masterchef - if you haven't eaten at The Crown what are you waiting for and the wines and alses are fab as well ?????The little kiddies pack of activitites for my 2 yr old grandson kept him amused for all the time we were there - thank you!Faultless! by Maz - Hertfordshire

Went on Sunday for lunch. Bit of a mixed bag. Steak and Ale pie was delicious. However, Sunday Roast was bland; poor quality meat; thin cut and the gravy was tasteless. Having asked for horseradish, the girl that served us - who was a bit all over the place - said there was none yet the next table got two portions! The wait for dessert was so long I ended up prompting the staff. Desserts were delish. Going back next weekend with a friend from Leeds for a "let's put it right" visit. Based on Visit 1: avoid Sunday Roast

My Husband and I had breakfast at the crown it was busy but not a problem I had the Pancakes and my husband had the full English both very tasty!! Staff very attentive would recommend this place highly all ingredients are locally sourced and as I said very tasty. Well worth the money.

My wife, myself and our two 18 month olds popped in for lunch as we are moving to the area. The children had the humus and kebabs... They didn't leave a scrap. I had the best burger I've had in a long time and the wife had a chicken pie off the specials menu. Looked very good and again not a scrap left. The bill was very competitive considering the quality of the food. The staff were very attentive. Will be trying the pub side in the near future and would recommend this pub to anyone.

We had breakfast here as a special birthday treat. It was really lovely, lots of choice. And we had a bloody mary breakfast cocktail! Pub was nice and modern. The staff were very friendlyWould recommend

Excellent choice available on menu and all reasonably priced. Plenty of room indoors and outside and efficient friendly staff. We travelled 12 miles to eat there and it was well worth the trip. If you like mussels do try the main course dish it is the best I have ever had in the UK.

Though my arrival was at a very busy time for the pub, I was greeted immediately in a most friendly manner and quickly shown my room and shown around. Lots of nice touches in the new rooms, which have everything you might need for a short stay. The expresso machine was put to good use and the huge shower/wet room has to be the biggest I've seen in a UK hotel. A most excellent breakfast. The staff were attentive and the service excellent throughout. If I have to visit Henlow again I would choose to stay here again. as it is ideally located and though near a very busy road the noise did not prove an issue for me. Thanks for the welcome, and making an effort to make my stay most pleasant.

My daughter took me for a birthday lunch. A truly scrummy experience! Freshly cooked food and i was suprised that my burger was homemade as was the bun! Seriously crunchy fat fries and onion rings as light as a feather. The dessert menu was a delight and refreshing from the norm but the biggest suprise was its all handmade by The dessert chef Nicola. The general ambience is relaxing with tasteful design. I was fortunate to peep into one of the contemporary rooms in an old build conversion that has recently opened as accommodation...eye to detail and plush interior with little extras included like Clarins accessories in shower rooms. I will definatley recommend to anyone wanting first class food and great service.

We've visited The Crown on many occasions to eat in the restaurant and bar. The food has always been good quality and they've been able to cater for a gluten free diet too. Always a reliable place to eat but the restaurant does get busy of an evening so you always tend to need to book in advance which means you can't spontaneously 'drop in' on the off chance when you feel like it.

We visited on a Sunday lunch time, I was concerned it would be a chain of pubs (everything microwaved) type meals but the menu says the food is locally sourced. My husband had the burger which was massive with yummy homemade chips. I had the mezze which was tasty but the most impressive thing was my daughters kids chicken nugget meal. It was big chunks of chicken breast not the processed muck some places serve. The only let down was my sponge pudding that had clearly been reheated in the microwave as the sponge had gone rubbery but the walnut icecream was good. I will try again one evening as the menu had lots of dishes I liked the sound of. Service was quick but slightly sterile.

We have visited the Crown at least 4 times over the last month and have had the most amazing food. Excellent presentation and delicious. They do the best cosmopolitan cocktails.
