Brilliant! A beautifully put together tour through the history of Londonderry. It explained and taught and made me understand far more than I had before. The videos and the exhibitions were excellent. Normally I get bored by the end of a tour and start missing out the videos but not this time! There was also an interactive area.

A first trip to Derry was further enhanced by a visit to this superb museum. It covers the history of the city in a straightforward and chronological manner. Many of us know headlines about the city in the last 50 years, but the museum provides context in an even handed manner. The setting within the walls is used to best effect. And the unexpected story of a shipwreck from the Spanish Armada added a further nuance to history. My kids are in their 20 ' s and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit, that was prompted by my mother being a WRN in the city during WW2.

Located in the drum tower of the Londonderry wall. The Museum tells the story of the Spanish Armada and the ships that sank, with items from one of the ships. There is also plenty of other interesting things to see in the Museum.Don't forget to visit the walls and the Cathedral, you can see the murals on the houses from the walls.

We were in the city working and took some time out to visit the museum. We were very glad that we did - the Armada exhibition is very well laid out and was very informative and interesting. A great mix of exhibits, information panels and interactive content. The staff at reception (Olivia and Liz) were very friendly and helpful and were able to answer all of our questions.Highly recommended for anyone who is in the area.

£2.40 for a concessionary ticket. Great value with two separate exhibitions. Allow yourself a minimum of two hours ...you can even break for lunch and then return. Fabulous exhibition . Highly recommend

Gives you an extensive history of the city and it's formation. It stays neutral politically. There is a great exhibit right now of one of the Armada ships that sunk of the coast.

I visited this about 6 years ago and their was no charge, but their is now an admission fee. If it's your first visit to the city worth a visit

We did this on a day in Derry and although we are local we had not been before . To begin I found the customer service and help at the desk top class .Prices to enter are very reasonable and for those entitled to concessions there is no hassle in getting them unlike other well known attractions in the same city . All the different eras of the city s history are covered and you can spend as much time as you wish on any era or period of interest .Also Derry s part in national events such as the war of independence or 1916 rising are well covered as is the Unionist involvement in resisting home rule .More recent events such as the troubles are well covered also .This includes, uniforms ,rubber and plastic bullets and letters from Long Kesh written by hunger strikers . There are to many sections to mention here but these include Derry s shipping history and a section on entertainment throughout the citys recent history . Also short films are taking place as you go around describing the history in more detail . A highlight for me was a coach belonging to the Knox family . This family were the victims of a very famous murder . An excellent trip for the visitor or local especially those wanting to learn a bit of the citys history .I would say to expect a 2 hour visit .

Our host at our hostel suggested we go to this museum, and it was well worth the time. A huge amount of history at Derry of which I had no previous idea. I do find one needs to allow a good amount of time, since there is so much to take in. With so much history, sometimes it's hard to remember who was who, and what happened when! However, it is very well laid out, and they do their best to present The Troubles in a fair way. The history of the Spanish Armada was also very interesting. The curator there took some of his time to talk to us, which was wonderful. We did go in the shoulder season, so it wasn't that busy at all. Oh, and the view at the top of the tower was fabulous.

This is an excellent museum and really gives an informative and incisive history of Derry from its inception through to the present day. We are from Dublin but we learnt so much on the tour and really came away with a balanced understanding of how the city and its people developed over the centuries. We visited the museum prior to taking the open topped bus tour and I would highly recommend anyone to do this. We felt that we were so well informed already that we could enjoy the trip even more. As previous reviews have mentioned the views from the top of the building are excellent. Apart from the cities history, there is also an exhibit on the Spanish Armada as one of the ships was wrecked in the sea to the north of Derry. I would definitly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Derry.

A museum telling the story of how Derry came to be, how the double name, Derry / LondonDerry came to be, The war, the sieges and the experiences during the troubles. And there is a nice view from the roof.
