Gediminas Tower offers a great panoramic view of the city, plus it also houses a museum of archeological findings from the area, such as swords, armour, artillery as well as retelling the history of the fortifications. It's cheap to enter and is very worthwhile walking up the hill to it for most people, or taking the funicular up (when it's operational during the spring to autumn months) if you aren't able to. Most people should be able to walk up there fairly easily though. Mind your head if you walk up the tower.

A visit to the Gediminas Tower is something that is being recommended to every visitor. Turns out to be a bit overrated, overstated....It is a badly restored top of something called a Tower, situated on a small hill overlooking the city...Definitely not worth the walk up the hill so if you really want to visit it, take the outdoor elevator (called a funicular I believe ?)

Gediminas Tower is a wonderful place to take in the whole scenery of the Vilnius city. You can see the beautiful old town and also the modern part of Vilnius. While you are ascending to the tower you can learn different things about its history inside the various displays and galleries. The pictures from the top came out beautiful.

Gediminas Tower is an amazing place! Probably one of the best places for taking photos of Vilnius - and mainly during sunset. Definitely should visit this place when you're in Vilnius. But be aware of wearing high heels - the pavement isn't really good for them. ;)

It is a little work out to go the the Gediminas Tower, but it is worth that. From the tower you can see whole old tower, and you must take a camera becouse the view is spectaculare.

Of course you have to go their! It is a very beautiful place, having big historical value, a lot of legends are prescribed to this place..Grand duke Gediminas, his dream and wolf :) In side of the tower you'll find museum, but if you do not want to spend your money, just be nearby...the same beautiful view is guaranteed.

In addition to leaving about the history of the Tower, the views from the Tower of the city are excellent. One can see Old Town as well as the new area of the city across the river from the tower As a result of red granite it is possible to see the outline of the old city walls in the pavement of the square below. To get to the top of the Tower, it is necessary to climb a spiral stairway which some may find difficult. On the way to the top are floors which show models of Vilnius through the ages. It is possible to get to the Castle via a funicular on the river side of the hill.

A nice place to visit. The view from top was beautifull. Price was 2 eur per head, not too expensive but the ladies collecting the payment were making it feel like paying taxes. Not speaking or smiling. More like "money, money, money!" It was a nice one-time visit and I recommend going there. Just don't expect to be treated well there.

a bit of hike, wouldn't recommend climbing the hilltop with flat soled shoes. the view is amazing. definitely one of the attractions in the bucket list

The tower was rebuild in 1948, it offers great view on the city of Vilnius from up the hill a can be reached on foot or by the funicular.

Gediminas hill tower is a place where the history of Vilnius starts. Grand duke Gediminas, who built a castle and founded the city of Vilnius, is one of the most important personalities in the history of Lithuania. For locals it is a very special place. May be tower by itself is not that impressive, but city views are worth to see. I prefer to go to the tower on foot, but there is an elevator as well. There is a small museum inside the tower, nothing special, but if you want to know history of Vilnius it might be interesting.

I saw the Gediminas Tower when we walked around by the Cathedral, and decided to see what it was. I've never heard about this before, but was intrigued by the possibility of a good view of the whole city. The story and history of the tower turned out to be very interesting, so I would recommend reading about it first. We walked up to the tower, which was a nice walk, about 10 min. When we got to the top, you could pay 2 euros to get inside the tower and go all the way up, which we did. Inside, there were photos from the Sovjet-era, and uniforms from 17th century and so. The view was magnificent! Would recommend this to everyone that wants to know the history of one of the most important landmarks in Lithuania, or to just see the view over Vilnius.

Totally worth it going up the hill - you can see the old town of Vilnius and the new part of the city on the other side of the river Neris. Possible to go into tower as well. You can also go up the hill by funicular. There is a fee if you want to enter the tower or go by funicular. Only sightseeing is for free.
