Well-presented museum showing how the country was treated by occupying forces until independence. Not pleasant, but you should go.

very good museum which show such a horrible things. the only thing that the information in russian/lithuanian and english language is not the same. it's a kind of politically-loaded information..

The Museum is a reminder of what happens when the rights of individuals are denied by the State. This museum is one of the most moving sites in all of Lithuania, comparable with the 9th Fort in Kaunas. Certainly not a pleasant experience but one which is necessary to help us remember.

Very interesting museum located in the actual KGB headquarters building. A useful and unusual view of a very painful time period. English information provided throughout the whole museum. Worth visiting.

Very well laid out museum depicting Lithuanian history over the years. By the guide book at the beginning so that you don't end up taking too many photos. The KGB prison is a sombre experience but interesting to experience.

Very interesting and sad to think of so many years of occupation and the same cruelties inflicted on the local people first by Germans and then by Russians in the same building. Well worth a visit and the small entrance fee. The stark nature of the cells including water torture and execution really bring out the horror of it all. The video in the execution chamber is an horrific reminder of inhumanity and a very chilling experience as you stand at the spot where so many people were shot.

The exterior of the building gives no hint of the interior. As you wander through the building, the horror of what occurred is beyond words. The brutality of that time in history chills you and makes it very hard to understand how people can treat each other so cruelly. A part of Lithuanian history that must be remembered. Seeing my family's name on the blocks outside made this trip very personal.

Definitely worth your time if you are interested in that sort of thing. To see everything takes no more than 2 hours.

This is history we must NEVER FORGET. It is almost impossible to understand what people can do to each other. It is not human. You can almost hear the screaming in this place. Horrible.

Over 3 floors are the brutal reprisals of former Soviet regime displayed in full. In particular is the main part in the basement devoted to the KGB disturbing in its graphical display of confinement cells and execution chambers. This place is an eye-opener to a tragic part of the Lithuanian history not too well known in the west

It was very touching and moving experience that I had in this museum. I saw the cells were the communism enemies were tortured and bestially killed. I saw the execution wall, were you can still see the holes after the bullets, that went through the head of the innocent man. I am so glad that such a museum exist, so people, these days, may be educated how "peaceful" Soviets were.

First you start with the exhibition, which gives a lot of information and is very interesting. Then you go down to the part where the prison cells are and from there I felt a bit scared! You can really imagine how it was at that time, everything is well shown. I would definitely recommend this museum, a must when visiting Vilnius.

it is difficult to rate this museum as excelent when you think of what went on in this building. But one needs to go there to remind you of how people can change to animals against each other. It is not so long since horrible things happend there.

Antiques-History-

It has been amazingly preserved - the rooms have been kept as they were during Soviet times. Interactive features have been installed to give you a detailed historical account not only of the KGB prison but also of Lithuanian history during Soviet and Nazi times. Highly recommended. One can easily spend 4 hours there.

Very sad such atrocities happened but it is a must visit. We went with our 13 year old and it was a walk through history.
