Fantastic views though very windswept on the day we visited. Worth a joint ticket with a visit to the Boves below the square. The final 43 steps are a little steep and you get a view through them when you descend so might not be ideal if you suffer with a fear of heights.

As a couple of other 'reviewers' have said the Beffroi (Belfry) is essentially the same attraction as the stunning Arras Town Hall (The Hôtel de Ville) and is actually located in the Place des Heros and NOT in the Grand Place as the address on this Trip Advisor listed stated (I have entered a correction but it may not get accepted).The Town Hall sits at the end of the market square that is the Place des Heros (a mini Grand Place which in fact used to be called the 'Petite Place'!) and with it the impressive belfry. Inside the Town Hall is the Arras tourist information centre as well as halls with some exhibits. Currently (October 2014) there is a photographic display and information on how Arras was during the WW1 and WW2. Very interesting images and information and the Town Hall and Belfry were basically destroyed in WW1 and was rebuilt in the same style around the 1920's.Inside the Town Hall / Belfry building you can also see the 4m high 'Arras Giants' which are a tradition of the town, and the ceilings are amazing (See photos). Well worth a visit and in my opinion the Place des Heros is nicer than the Grand Place.

Great price! We got a pass for the Bellfroi, Bove, Wellington Quarry for €11.50. A great deal. The Bove and quarry were interesting the Bellfroi a bit scary. Well worth the price. We did this the day before going to the Vimy Memorial. It was a good little history lesson to have which helped us appreciate Vimy even more.

Amazing views across the french countryside and the town of Arras. Dont go up when screaming school children are going!

In July 2005, the bell tower of Arras was classified as part of the ‘world inheritance of humanity’ by UNESCO. Visitors can climb it to see numerous sites and monuments around the city. Don't let the star rating fool you: this is something travelers to Arras ought to do. I just think it could be done quite a bit better. Firstly, the price is quite reasonable for someone to go up and take a look around the whole region--and it IS the whole region. The trouble starts in trying to take one's bearings from the guide plaques atop the tower. Landmarks are drawn on the plaque, with only very crude directions given to locate them (distance, and an arrow that is mostly inaccurate). The closer sites are obviously easy to spot, but the landmarks as drawn on the plaque are misleadingly placed at times. A far better option is a panoramic photograph with labels.Otherwise, it was fine. I spent a good 15 minutes atop the tower, and another 5-10 at the base looking at the history plaques. Not bad at all!

We had a day out in Arras planned and the Beffroi was on the agenda. It's inexpensive and well worth the climb up the narrow rickety steps once you get out of the lift. I am petrified of heights but by staying close to the inner wall I was able to make a circuit and appreciate the magnificent views. Even the photos my son took give me vertigo! We were fortunate to have a clear day and could see all the way to the horizon. The rest of the family were keen to try and spot the features indicated on the numerous info boards (I left them to it! ). From start to finish was less than half an hour but definitely a good thing to do.

You have to climb the last 40 stairs up a very narrow circular staircase so it's not for those with either claustrophobia or a fear of heights. Once you're up there the view of the Grand Place and Place des Heroes is nice but that's it.

Probably wouldn't have chosen to go up the belfry if it wasn't for combined ticket which included a free trip but it was actually very good. Slightly rickety spiral staircase from top of lift to the top - but well worth the climb even on a grey day like ours as the views are great across the city and beyond. A trip you can do in half an hour to get a different perspective of the place du heroes and the city. Inside the tourism office you can also learn more about the impact on the city of WW1.

As were were visiting the Main Square Festival we got free tickets to the tower. The views from the top are stunning and we arrived just as the clock struck mid-day - as we were climbing the stairs !!You get a full 360 degree view of Arras and the surrounding countryside. On each side there are maps highlighting the attractions that can be seen. As long as you are not scared of heights and can climb a few rickety stairs, after an elevator ride, then this is well worth the effort.

Thankfully there is an elevator not quite to the top but almost; the rest of the ascend is only a few flights. Depending on weather one has got an excellent view of the surroundings. There is no guide, so this is to be done alone.

The belfry tour is a lift, followed by about 40 steps up a circular metal staircase. Views are good, and there are panels showing what you can see on each side. Quick (10-15 mins) and cheap (2-3 euro) but get the combo ticket for the boves and carriere wellington as well - all 3 are wortha visit

Well worth a visit. A lift followed by a small number of steps to gain some amazing views of Arras.Tickets are available from the the Tourist Information Office.

I enjoyed the visit to the belfry, which was rebuilt after the original was destroyed in World War 1.There is a lift to the level of the bells, followed by 43 steps to go outside and admire the views of Arras - which were worth seeing.Quite a contrast to see the outside, rebuilt as it was, with the concrete inside of the tower.
