The cathedral is close to the town square/old town area. The Slovenia architecture is nice. The cathedral is beautiful inside and outside.

When we walked by the Cathedral of St.Nicholas, a religious ceremony was about to start. We stayed for the whole of mass and had communion. We all gave thanks for the excellent trip we were experiencing and the nice weather. At the same time, we couldn't help noticing the quality of the worshippers of all ages. The church was packed with people mostly local. We also admired the baroque architecture and religious art in the cathedral. The front alter was being renovated. There were a few scaffolds on the inside of the building. The fervour of the parishners impressed me. I thought that religion beliefs had been suppressed in this former satellite country of Russia...

One of the Slovenian most beautiful cathedrals. Just few steps from Ljubljana city market and old town with river Ljubljanica.

If you are in the Old Town area or going to the castle you will likely walk right by this cathedral so you might as well pop in, right? The interior is stunning, packing a lot into a quaint church! But hands down our favorite part of the church are the doors! Both sets of doors are worth stopping to look at and marvel at the detail! One thing to note, the church is closed from 12 to 3, so plan accordingly!

Had to visit this cathedral. We were visiting the Christmas market. Fantastic architecture! Can't wait to go back.

opening the big huge wooden doors was fascinating for my son. This was great to visit n take a look at the history n architecture. Even better cos it's free.

The cathedral deserves a visit by anyone interested in art or architecture. The two large sculpted exterior doors are very impressive and the interior ceilings are beautiful (see photos). And admission is free!

A really lovely small Cathedral with not an inch not painted. What really made it special was the explanation of the paintings and the working of the Cathedral that was given to us by a charming man.

The Cathedral itself is not very big and really not extraordinary – quite beautiful outside and inside with pleasing typical décor of the period. The most outstanding part is modern doors that are masterpiece themselves, so do take some time for their proper observation.

A stroll to the cathedral is really worthwhile. The cathedral is magnificent and the surrounding areas that open up on the walk are fascinating

This is a well maintained beautiful building that is centrally located in Ljubljana. Grand building with a definite prescence. You can't miss it if walking round the town so spend a little time to pop in and admire the craftmanship.

Wow, so beautiful! My husband and I took a walk and decided to go in. Absolutely amazing and the colors are so rich. The doors are very unique too.

Ljubljana is a beautiful little town (city) by anybody's reckoning and there are so many diverse attractions that it is hard to take it all in. The cathedral which is fairly large, white, and nondescript has these 2 amazing doors that immediately make you get the camera out. The church itself is free to enter and features religious statuary, paintings and murals and a beautiful altar, not a lot different to most European religious buildings. It's the doors that are the striking feature. The main door which is a recent piece of art, depicts the latest 6 bishops almost in a 3D relief. The other door on the sunny side in the main thoroughfare depicts the history of Ljubljana and I assume its Roman, Turkish and 20th century past. I know the enthusiastic traveller around Europe gets a bit sick of churches and castles after a while but this one is worth dropping by and having a quick look. There's something about this town that just seems to juxtapose the old with the new and it all seems to work. No doubt there's a heritage group who supervise who can change what but whatever they're doing; keep it up!. There is no charge to enter the cathedral so give it a few minutes but get the camera ready to photograph those doors!!!!
