Me and my girlfriend visited this enormous castle ruin quiet by coincidence, because we just did not know what to do that day. But it was one of the best choices of our trip, because this place is simply monumental. I did not believe such castle could exist in Czech Republic. Even the tour around the castle (which is free of charge) takes your breath away, but you really should take paid tour also. The only thing, which I did not understand, is why there are two tours, when both are 90% the same. We take both and used the free time to make more photos, but the tours could be merged into one, which will be 15 minutes longer.

First visited in 1992 with three children who have never forgotten it! Still the favourite castle of our daughter who is now 28! That year the tour was about an hour - in Czech - with short English comments! 'This is the dungeon'! In a photograph at that time there were no cars - just a man pushing a hand cart. We have visited Susice and Rabi several times since - more cars and more tourists - but still an amazing place! This is a wonderful area for a traditional family holiday - rivers to swim and boat in, woodland walks, lots of other castles and cities/towns to visit.

Castle, where JAN ZIZKA ( leader of Hussites in the 15th century) lost his 2nd eye. If you arrive from Susice city , castle appears in so magnificent way in front of you, that you almost cannot resist not going there. Take a tour guide, enjoy the medieval markets in the courtyard and you will certainly bring excellent 360 degree pictures from the fascinating lookout at the castle tower.

This is the biggest castle in Czech republic, it's also very spectacular. You should definitely visit it!

This fortress can only be visited via a guidetour, which is more than worthwhile. The Principal is unknown but probably the earls of Bogen, of who Rabi and surrounding areas between 1124-1273 belonged to. After the land and estates went to Bohemia again end of the13th century, Rabi was probably inhabited by the Velhartices (Sušice). Already mentioned in 1380 as the property of Půta I Švihovský (House Riesenberger), later owned by Půta II Švihovský, his heirs owned the castle until 1504 but were increasingly in need of money, 1548 they discharged the castle, multiple ownership changes followed, including: Heinrich Kurzbach von Trachenberg, Diviš Malovec z Libějovice and Vilém z Rožmberk. 1570 It was property of Dlouhé Vsi untill the first decade of the 18th century. Despite the edicts of Emperor Ferdinand III and Leopold I fort Rabi remained intact but unmaintained and eventually became badly destroyed during the 30-year war and later the castle walls were dismantled by people who intended to use the stones as building material, to make matters worse a fire did occur in 1720.

Největší česká hradní zřícenina, s krásným výhledem do okolí, výběr z více prohlídkových tras, jsou zde pořádány různé kulturní akce a v podhradí též výstavy.
