About 6 halls showcasing the city treasures since early Byzantine era up to 1920 or posted byzantine era. Very interesting museum to those who appreciates ancient architecture and arts especially icons and manuscripts . there is a full section on castles in Macedonia and how these were built for centuries.

A worth visiting museum that puts in value the Byzantine history of the city. Well situated and very well organised.

If you are interested to Byzantine culture, this is excellent! You will get a lot of the byzantine history of town which will then give you a different perspective of the ruins you see walking around in town (walls etc). Furthermore, there is a section representing how houses used to be build based on ruins (real mosaics moved to museum) found in Thessaloniki. The building of the museum itself is awarded and worth to see as well.

Have been several times. For visitors to the city it is easy to get to and can be combined with a visit to the Archaeological museum next door. The exhibits are well displayed. There is a lovely coffee shop with a choice of snacks. I would advise looking at the exhibits, having a rest in the coffee shop and then returning to the exhibits.

Located near the expo and the acheological museum has many objects from Byzadine cemetaries reconstracted tombs sarcophagus and religious icons.

Very interesting exhibits which outline the byzintine history of the town, how people used to live then and some beautiful icons

The museum is worth a visit. I bought a combination ticket with the Archeological Museum. I visited the Archeolgical Museum first, which has a very interesting collection. I found the Byzantine Culture Museum good, but the focus was too narrow.

Spectacular things inside the museum history in every corner nice located in the center (middle of the city ) near White tower.I would like to have more choices for tourist guiding and a greater range of time to visit

Pleasantly surprised. No glossing over any part of the city's history. Fantastic facility, great artificates accompanied by well presented notes. All conquerors, periods and incidents are touched on with equal attention. Worth visiting.

Enjoyed visiting this museum . Good easy layout and interesting displays. Only complaint was the infomation was badly lit and small making it hard to read. But worth visiting.First Sunday of the month entry is free

Magnificent exhibits, very well displayed. Information provided on the displays and the era of each, also very helpful. I was slightly disappointed by the museum shop. It sold mementos that were from every other Greek museum and very little relating to the specific one.

A must see if you are a first timer in Macedonia.Great finding from all around the area with TOP of course the golden box from Verging tombs in East Macedonia

A modern building, well laid out, with galleries covering all eras of Byzantine culture. Mosaics, sculpture, grave slabs, artwork, artefacts, etc, all well displayed and explained in Greek and English. Fascinating place to pass a couple of hours for those interested in the Byzantine Empire.

If you like history or archeology , you must see this museum as there are many interesting things to see. Though such things are not my cup of tea, still I enjoyed visiting this museum

This must be one of the most interesting museum architecture I have ever experienced. A brilliant architect! There's nothing really monumental or loud about the structure; it is large but not massive, it is simple without being a 'warehouse" and it is modern without being in contrast with the exhibits. It is actually like the building holds your hand and guides you around, gracefully and discreetly because it understands that museums should not distract from the exhibits.And as for the exhibits; glorious! A fascinating travel through art, religion, society, daily life. afterlife..brilliant! (even better if combined with the archaeological museum nearby; thousands of years of fascinating history and art)
