I don't understand how people would rate this as terrible. My husband and I had a few hours to kill on our last day, so decided to go here...we are so glad we did! We walked around, saw some beautiful scenery, spotted some gorgeous birds and just overall enjoyed the beauty of this place! Definitely worth doing.

Nice location with plenty of birds. Flamingoes are always neat. There are several nice duck species and the Harriers are constantly hunting in the area. The two birding blinds set up help you get a bit closer and are well done. It is bigger than it first appears.

Beautiful area to view many, many birds. Two months after my visit I emailed the Reserva with some bird photos that I could not identify. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a very helpful and friendly response.

So this is where we spent Xmas eve....and it was free at the time...not a massive place but we easily spent several hours here loads of flamingoes and different birds of prey to watch, some nice little hides to get some shelter from the wind too

This reserve is about a 10 minute walk from the main street. Lots of birds to see, and a pleasant walk around the wetlands. Great photo opportunities. I was there for a couple of hours which I think was a good amount of time to spend. You could probably get around it in an hour and a half.

This is a beautiful (and easy) walking path that is definitely worth a visit. It takes about 1.5-2 hours and its great for taking in the scenery & watching the birds (flamingos!). It's a short walk from "downtown" or you can rent a bike and get there super fast. You can use your ticket to re-enter for several days, so hang on to it in case you want to go back.

If you would like a 1.5-hour stroll through nature, close to town, I recommend this. Saw quite a variety of birds, including a flamingo in flight ... a nice little getaway from the tourism of the town.

Within walking distance, not tourist fulfilled, wonderful for enjoying the lake, birds and native plants

If you go in the summer, you will probably get back to the city from most of the tours in El Calafate around ~5pm. As there is sun light until ~9pm you should have plenty of time to explorer the trail in the Laguna Nimez. It is located within a walking distance (~15 minutes) from the main street. One can notice that the trail was structured with care by the local staff since there are many information and signs along the path. It is worth a visit! Make sure to be there before 7pm since after that no further entrance is allowed. (once in you can leave whenever you like)

A lovely walk round the various habitats of the reserve with explanatory boards just where the birds shown are likely to be seen. Two hides for a) hiding from the birds b)sheltering if it rains. Buy a ticket and you can go in again if you have time. It is easy to get good photos of various ducks, birds of prey, plovers and, above all, Chilean Flamingos. This is a little gem and our favourite place in El Clafate

The Laguna Nunez is not far from the Hotels and Hostels in El Calafate and well worth the visit! Nice landscape and lots of birds to be watched!

This is only a short walk from downtown El Calafate. The trails are easy to follow and you will see all sorts of birds in there natural environment

a short walk from the center of El Calafate and we spent about 2 hours walking around the lagoon. Lots of ducks, birds, and flamingos.

A fantastic conservation project wioch you must support. You get to walk beside lovely lakes, see beautiful birds and in the most outstanding scenery.

We walked round this reserve on an extremely windy day - the flying geese (or were they swans?) almost stood still in the air. It made bird-watching a tad challenging but made for an enjoyable walk and I'm sure there were some interesting birds to see, somewhere, although they were largely sheltering under bushes when we were there.
