We stayed at Mulligans Camp and ran the World Heritage Great Track through the Gibraltar Ranges. I have never seen such a diverse vegetation across one 45km track.Loved the greens and the mushrooms and the creeks and swamps and single tracks, fire trails, ... everything you need to be happy. There are some uphills and downhills, but nothing too scary. If you go counterclockwise, you encounter natural pools somewhere around km 42, which make a wonderful cool down at the end of the day. Some of the camps along the way seemed like the had not been used in decades...

Only 20 minute from Scone, the washpools are a secluded peaceful retreat. Great for camping, and picnics. (Free gas BBQs)There are two grounds to choose from. The first has nice campgrounds by the creek. The second is for day visitors only, and hosts a wonderful walkway along the creek bank.

Towarri national park or washpools to most is a great spot for a local day trip or camping. They have both facilitys avalible. The river is spring fed from the mountions above with great views on the drive in of rock faced mountions and the always cool water it is a great spot to cool off in summer. Not much of the park is accessable as the river is the attraction. Great spot to see flora and fauna as well.Just remember to respect the park and the ecosystem in side it.

We spent about an hour birding at Washpool. It was very dry, but we enjoyed the birds, plants and unusual rocky riverbed. It's a nice, quiet picnic spot with shelter, tables, BBQs and toilets.

when the loggers were trying to enter the washpool rainforest many years ago many protestors stopped the logging and the washpool national park was formed. what a great thing they did. this is one of the most beautiful areas on earth. the creeks and trees and animals in this forest are amazingly beautiful. if you get a chance spend a day or three in the forest and just explore and listen to the sounds and keep an eye out and you will see things as lyre birds and many other birds and animals. if you are quiet enough they will come to you. go there and enjoy the serenity. beautiful is not enough to say about this place.
