A truly amazing collection of more than 140 buildings from the earliest pioneering days to mid 20th Centuary. Most buildings open and fully furnished. The cinema runs fascinating period films, the hospital shows instruments of its day, the church is very atmospheric. The town has several main streets all packed with different types of buildings. This is all the work of one man and is just amazing. We would recommend this museum to everyone. Allow 3 hours at least to view.

Finishing our trip and we were heading back too perth. When my husband saw a display of old trucks. We stop and went in. Wow it was amazing. The time and effort the owners have put in was unreal and great. My 9 &10 year olds love it. I couldnt get my husband out of the place. Thanks for such an amazing experience.

Just a must do if travelling through here or make a special effort to see it. Operating with the help of volunteers a true credit to one mans dream coming true....you will easily spend a few hours browsing. The displays are just full of historical memorabilia and so well presented. Entry costs are very reasonable.

Took my family there and it was nice to step back in time and discover so much history. We had planned on putting a half day tour of old Tailem town and before we knew it we had been there the entire day. We have said we will return as we love visiting friends who live near the river.

Not enough people come to quirky places like this. It's good value for money where you can easily go back in Australia's history and see how people used to live and the houses, shops and hotels of the time. Utterly fascinating to those who enjoy this type of thing.

It is very interesting to see in nature looked like a typical Australian city in the early 20th century. Exhibits many, and they well selected. Good made description of the history of each store, workshop, home.

We visited this place in a group and this made it more interesting. The owner/caretaker gave us a 'lesson' in the old school and to hear him talk about his childhood as well as his adult life spent in this part of the country made it more personal.Reconstruction of the old shops, furnished with authentic memorabilia is a trip down memory lane indeed. A good place to bring the younger generation to see how much progress have been made. No frills and all the commercial hype.

Spent a great afternoon here. The old church was by far my favourite area and it did have a certain "feel" to it. I can see why it is popular with ghost tours. The owners are lovely, and absolutely let you do your own thing. Highly recommend!

Old Tailem Town is a reconstruction of an imagined South Austraian rural town of years gone by. Old removal buildings, mostly simple houses, have been used to recreate typical shops of a bygone era. It is possible to walk around inside most of the buildings and they are well furnished with authentic items. As well as the numerous shops there are many examples of humble homes of the past, the details in these houses are most fascinating. In total there are over a hundred buildings in the village. Outside there are many old cars, machines, trains etc which are not preserved in any way. The paths are stony and it is a good idea to wear strong shoes. The maintenance of such a large attraction must be very difficult and there is some feeling of a dusty neglect but it does not take away from the over all charm of the venture. It is well worth a visit if you would like to get a feeling of how Australians lived not that long ago.

Over the past year, I have visited Old Tailem Town many times during darkness hours with Adelaide Haunted Horizon's Ghost Tours. Today, with a friend visiting from England, it was time for a visit during daylight hours. I was amazed and captivated at the extent, variety and amount of buildings, artefacts and memorabilia which had been brought together to create this incredible village. It really was a step back in time, and an unforgettable experience made even more enjoyable by the friendly staff and the privilege of meeting the owner! We will definitely be back, and it will be a firm feature on our list of places to take future overseas and interstate visitors. An excellent day out.

It was very interesting to see how the first settler lived. The old buildings are all furnished with original artifacts. Shops are stocked with original items.

What an amazing place, not cheap to experience, but great all the same, takeaway bottle of water around with you as building are old and if it's warm, you need it!Read the signs about each exhibit as some were not the buildings they are now and hold a great history them selves, having been relocated several times, also the butchers shop items were kindly donated and the story behind it is lovely.A shame to hear that the cinema is usually playing a film real and wasn't on our visit, but still beautiful all the same.

We were lucky enough to have an half hour chat with Peter, the owner who grew up on this site and had the grand plan to collect all this old stuff and display it all in one place. He started 30 years ago and is still adding more every year. It would be great to see a lot more of the machinery restored and on display instead of just seeing it in sheds. We were disappointed that the 3 big machinery sheds where all the old working engines are stored were not open on the day we visited. Apparently these displays belong to somebody else and they are only open when that person is there. All in all it was a good experience, but I think that a lot of the old buildings will need some maintenance shortly if this attraction wants to continue getting visitors

The lack of card machine is a issue this was our second visit after not having enoth cash on the first visit.loved seeing each place set up how it used to look seen a simular place in the UK but no where near the scale to this place.Very dissapointed the sheds with the stationary engines are in was locked. And sad that some of the tractors/cars can't be protected more from weather ect.still enjoyed it hope they can improve in the future like a small cafe and better picnic area.

Very interesting place. Loved taking a trip back in time and showing the kids how their Great Grandparents would have grown up. Probably could do with a bit of a clean up in some of the houses/buildings but this didn't worry me too much (could worry other people). I loved that everything was original. So much to see, takes a good couple of hours. The kids really enjoyed it too. Would love to go back and do the ghost tour without the kids one day. Make sure you bring cash. I rang before I left home to get admission prices ($50 for a family) but they didn't mention that they don't take cards. Friendly staff. Great afternoon thanks!
