I am ashamed to admit I had no idea about. I kings coming and landing here.It is a lovely heritage site and informative tour and exhibit. If you venture to this area don't miss the opportunity to visit this.

L'Anse Aux Meadows is absolutely beautiful. We were the only ones hiking and exploring on one of the most beautiful sunny days. We relaxed on the side of the ocean and dipped our feet in the pristine waters of the atlantic. They have amazing historical replicas and the boat building area was breathtaking. A must-see for anyone of any age.

Being first generation Americans, with our ancestors from Norway, felt like we were visiting hallowed ground here. You could just FEEL the history and presence of Lief and his norsemen. A special treat was a family of moose that ran through the property as we were walking about!

You haven't been in or to Canada until you have spent the day here. From the historical and geographical présentations to the film documentary followed by the hike down the trail to the sod Viking house, it is simply a beautiful dramatic site!! We loved it and it is only the 3ird time we have visited. ( and the Labradorite jewellery in the gift shop is fabulous)

A 15 minute film was an introduction to the area before walking down a boardwalk to a recreated village with staff dressed as Vikings and living and working as the Vikings would. A very interesting place to visit.

Good into film, knowledgable guides, recreated village with inhabitants to tell the story of the people who lived there in 1000 AD

Walking into the recreated Viking buildings is a great experience. The garbed reenactors were knowledgeable and friendly. There were moose grazing across the meadow. The weather in early October was clear with blue skies and up to 60+F. The Visitors Center is very interesting. It's a long walk from the Center to the Viking buildings, but there are a few benches. You get to walk by the original foundations of the Vikings on the way. The buildings were made of peat blocks. It's a long drive up from the ferry at Port aux Basques. Allow more than 3 days up and back if you can. Don't figure on less. Newfoundland itself is very different and worth the trip.

This site interesting detailing the Viking explorations and is historically accurate in the staff's re-enactments of that time long past -as we're in the area every year, we will be back next year in 1015

The Visitor's Center at L'Anse aux Meadows has excellent exhibits to explore, but it was our tour guide Paul that helped make this one of our favourite experiences in Newfoundland. Paul was animated, knowledgeable and inquisitive, and did an excellent job of sharing the history and theories surrounding the Norse visits to L'Anse aux meadows. An amazing piece of word history.

Excellent staff, informative site. A must see for any age. It was a very cool experience to walk where the Vikings once walked before us. Obviously a lot of work went into the site, and it is much appreciated.

I loved seeing this site. The actors playing Vikings were very knowledgeable storytellers. The surroundings were beautiful. Visitors could pick up artifact recreations and really see how the Norse settlers would have lived.

The Tourist Centre display is well presented. Park personnel friendly and informative. The Site remarkable to walk through. Easily maneuvered pathways . We also did the Coastal walk which took us right back to the parking lot as promised. The view -- beautiful. We were on a boardwalk through the lower area of bog and flora, inland lake. Signposts now and then to explain what we were seeing. We were there in mid-September and there was a steady stream of tourists going through, including a bus tour. Apparently, 20,000 people went through the Site over the summer. The people dressed in costume at the site were great. One of the actors has a couple of recordings of Labrador and Newfoundland folk songs for sale in the gift shop. We enjoyed the music very much. Should have bought both CDs for our drive. Well done. Allow a couple of hours here, maybe three if you take the Coastal Walk.

We did the video & followed the interpretive guide. She showed us the site, how Greenland & Vinland (New Bruinswick) got their names, even some local edible fauna. She also explained why the Norsemen picked this site. I won't reveal why, as I encourage you to go find out for yourself. Apparently, Nfld's partridge berry is the lingonberry whose jam you can buy at Ikea. We even picked & ate some cloud berries from the bog along the Birchy Nuddick Trail. A period actor in full costume was in the replica long house giving colorful commentary of life as a Norseman.
