My husband and I took this tour from Sandals Whitehouse on Feb. 27th and what a great experience! The catamaran leaves directly from the resort and is about an hour to an hour and a half. Once you arrive you get to explore this unique Jamaican place. There's a lobster meal you can have for purchase that I hear is quite good but we didn't have it. If you tip the guy there he will carve your name in the wood amongst thousands of others....very cool :) you can also swim if you want but I was a little afraid because there were sting rays swimming around. Yikes!! I jumped in for a few minutes just to say that I did but I quickly got out lol. On our way back in the catamaran we got to see dolphins! They swam next to the boat and put on quite a show for us. It was the most awesome experience we had while in Jamaica :) I would highly recommend it!!

We caught a little boat from Treasure beach and about 25 minutes later, arrived at Floyd's Pelican bar. It's literally in the middle of the ocean. Not 5 star or the nicest bar out there but it has a unique feel to it. I don't know of any other bar in the middle of the ocean! The beer is a bit pricey but that's to be expected. All in all, a nice unique experience.

We visited Floyde's Pelican Bar on Feb 12 2015. A great time was had by all and the food and service was very good. This is a very unique place to visit and I recommend the trip to everybody.

We arrived at Basil's and Mike helped us into his boat for the trip out to the Pelican Bar. It is one of a kind. The drinks are expensive, but what do you expect, you are out on a sand bar. Sitting on the wooden planks and watching the rays and puffer fish...I could have stayed all afternoon...but then we realized that we were starting to burn and decided to head back in. Worth the trip if you are in the area.

This is the coolest bar I have even been to. The lobster was the best lobster my wife ever ate. If you have the opportunity to go, this is a must. Great snorkeling, especially underneath the bar. Good drinks and just a great taste of the Jamaican culture. Just a wonderful day and experience. A memory of a lifetime for us.

We heard about this place in Negril and decided to get away from the beach scene and take a trip. First, we found an awesome driver (Junior Reid) at the roadside stand near Best of the West jerk in Negril. We negotiated a price for him to take us to Pelican Bar and YS Falls (basically an all-day trip) and off we went (start early!). A short boat trip brought us out to Pelican Bar which is on a sandbar about 1/2 mile off-shore. Some rickety slats of wood, a thatched roof, and ta-da...a bar. They have Red Stripe and rum (limited mixers, if any), few seats, and no bathrooms, but that's what makes it so great! The other group that was there were getting fish, freshly caught. On our way back to Negril we stopped at a roadside stand on the border between St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland parishes. Our driver directed us to the right place so we could avoid the haggling for escoveitch fish (fried with vinegar, onions, and scotch bonnet peppers) and bammy (a cassava based bread-like pancake). Definitely the most delicious meal we had in Jamaica! Crispy fried snapper - head and tail on, don't miss those crispy cheeks, and filling bammy.

What a unique place, will never experience this anywhere else, for adults not kids, a must see, have to take a boat ride to the bar, suggesting grabbing a lobster meal before going over to bar, there is a little restaurant on the mainland before heading to bar

Swimming, fishing, cold beer, boat ride, incredible little shack in the water. This is a must see if you are visiting Negril or the YS Falls.

Engineering at its finest! You can approach the bar from the beach approximately a mile offshore. In the 10-person boat you go for your ride in the warm Caribbean to your authentic ocean front dining experience complete with bar, gift shop, snorkeling and dominoes. It doesn't get any better than that. Had parrot fish for lunch...fresh caught and prepared. Lobster also available. Jumped in the water, waist-high, and swam around for awhile. Didn't have a time frame...stay as long as you wanted. Went back with Floyd who prepared a wonderful fish lunch for his dog...yes, I said dog who eats fish. Where else than Jamaica! Thanks, Floyd! My family had a great time. Good lunch, fun in the water. Great fort. Fantasy becomes reality and everyone enjoys. You are living your dream! Love it!

what an amazing bar to see, what is there not to like about a bar in the middle of the ocean , this is a must see if you are in jamaica

Yes, the location is superb. The bar is rough inside with no seating - a small plate of food and its busy, busy. One boat load after another. A real tourist trap. Went with Sandals, on a large catamaran - great fun, a great group of people. As we were leaving a guy turned up looking for his carved initials from 2010 - was he serious?? - thousands and thousands of people go to this place - I'm sure the boards are replaced just to give it that authentic touch. Pleased we went but on our list to return.

Can't say enough except to say you have to experience it yourself. Knew nothing about it when I went and that made it better. So, guess what, lol (the wonderful Jamaicans say that)! Go and don't read aNYMORE; It's the best!

We went through Island Routes and booked a catamaran trip that left from Sandals Whitehouse. Island Routes did a really fantastic job and had our wonderful driver Chris pick us up from and take us back to our hotel in Negril. The catamaran crew were fantastic and so much fun! They supplied fun hors d' oeuvres and yummy drinks galore. Floyd's Pelican Bar is definitely something different to see and visit. We had a really fun and relaxing time while there. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

we used Island routes tours, and booked a catamaran trip out to the pelican bar. It was interesting. The cruise was great, the crew was awesome.however, there was a minor miscommunication. They told us that was no food on the trip and there was snackfoods at the bar. so we got the lobster launch served at the pelican bar. It was great tasting, however, not much lobster as it was chopped up and mixed in with other foods. Save your money and get a whole lobster from one of the restaurants in the area for the same price.
