After visiting the 100 islands, we finally decided to proceed to Patar beach, Bolinao. Almost all the ten of us were exhausted after traveling for an hour, and nowhere can we see at least Bolinao entry point. Finally seeing the beach fronting several resorts, we momentarily feel frustrated because of small boulders scattered on the shore. We continue our travel for another 15 minutes reaching Patar public beach. Be prepared to pay 50 pesos for parking to a guy informing us that the lot is private. No entrance fee was collected, we only pay for the cottage/hut and use of the bathroom facilities; but unlike the parking fee, income is for the government. Bathroom facilities here are clean and new compared to 100 islands. We feel freshened up from our exhaustion upon seeing this gem. Fine peach-golden sand, aqua- blue clean waters for beach swimmers and sky-blue waters for divers. There's an occasional rocks/stones but for us, it's still tolerable compared to beaches in 100 islands. What I observed with this beach compared to others like in San Fabian, Pangasinan, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and others in La Union, it has a natural breakwater, so that bigger waves from afar become just ripples in the swimming area. We value the courteousness of locals we encountered, from government employees to the vendors, to the store attendants we asked for road directions. To our public servants, push for an airport either in Pangasinan or southern La Union to boost tourism in the area; then we and maybe others will come back again to Patar and 100 islands.Tip: For future uninformed travelers, be sure that you go left (paved road) on a crossroad. We're victims of a double signage choosing right-side of the street on a bumpy unpaved road. Bring beach shoes if you have one.

We have stayed at the Treasures many times and it just keeps getting better. The rooms are large, clean, and with great views. The courtesy and helpfulness of the staff is incredible. They go out of their way to make you more than comfortable. The facilities are kept very clean. The restaurant offer many choices. There is a bar facing the sea front but only offering limited choices. If you are drinker good to have your own special black label or Vodka. There are simple stores outside Treasures where you can pick up supplies for beachwear, local drinks and snacks. There are two swimming pools to choose from. The Patar beach has been listed as one of the TOP 10 Beaches in the Philippines and the golden sand lives up to it.

The beach has lovely gold sand and near-to-clear waters. Wear beach shoes because it is rocky in most areas.

Beach is 7 hours from Manila via bus and about 30 minutes via trike from town proper which could be a long travel time for some but for quite a nice beach, I personally think it is relatively accessible one. No need to take a boat too so solo or couple travelers do not need to worry about those usually expensive boat rides. In the area where we stayed, most accommodation options are rooms in cottages so do not expect luxurious accommodation. In our case, we opted to rent a hut and pitch our tent. Sand is not powdery but still relatively fine and not very white but gets whiter when the sun is brighter. Water is calm so it is safe for kids and non-swimmers like me to wade in. Water gets very shallow in the morning so it could be an interesting morning walk far from the shore with water still knee-deep. Central area is where most people are but if you are seeking solitude, you can opt to go to the left side of the place. Be prepared to be approached by kids selling food and souvenir items. If you feel like chatting, it could be an interesting experience. Otherwise, just tell them you do not want to be disturbed. Personally, I don't think they would be that pushy unless you show some interest.Electricity, basic food and beverage and even clothes for swimming and souvenirs are all available in the area. Mobile network signal could be challenging though (my network's Globe). We were not able to go but there are other nearby attractions like the lighthouse and a cave. Try to check these out if you have got more time.

Patar Beach is one of the cleanest body of water I've been in Luzon. My husband and I just visited the area last January 2015. We did not try to swim because I did not expect that there is a very nice beach down under. The travel is too long but worth seeing. There is no hotel or good resort to stay along the beach. But there are some cottages that are ofcourse for rent. There are some small restaurants.Pets are allowed here..you must be aware that they are also do swim in the beach.Goodluck

Likes: - Near fine sand but also with interesting rocky areas to explore- Clean cottages for rent- Bring your own food or ask locals to cook for you (negotiate prices)- Friendly locals- Shopping for souvenirsDislikes:- Confusing directions to the beach; ask locals- Parking fee of P50 (no guard that I could see)- Bathroom or toilet is not yet modernized

I spent Christmas Day here and it was beautiful. Lots of people were there but it didn't seem crowded and you could easily walk down and find your own spot. The huts are perfect for preparing food in.

Worth the travel. Nice view, clean water, good sand. Just awesome! Boracay of the North and better since its much cheaper.

Patar beach, though not a "white sand" beach is clearly only of the most exciting swath of sand there is in Pangasinan. Honestly, there are better ones out there but I like the duality of this beach--in the morning, it evokes serenity. in the evening, it is as if there's a battle going on with strong tides and winds.

great beach , but finding a place to eat is a struggle, you have to buy fish in town then bring it here to grill as all cottage have a griller once you rented it around 500/cottage

If you like going local then you will not be disappointed! Open shaded cabanas rent out at PHP200/day, parking PHP40/car. No real restaurant, just a sarisari store for your drinks, snacks/junkfood/beer and one other restaurant "grill" whose mixed seafood platter consists of freshwater farmed fish. So better plan to bring your own food as you can, and if want to, can even bbq beside your cabana (which is annoying for the people next to you as the smoke gets into theirs, as they are pretty close to each other and there's the wind too!). The store has charcoal/uling for sale--- unless they run out!Toilet facilities: PHP10/person; Rinse/Banlaw PHP5/person at the ground pump/poso; Full shower in a stall PHP10/personBeach is clean and long enough not to feel too crowded; water is clear and pleasant though I would not leave a toddler or young child too near the water as the waves/surge can get pretty strong for them. There are rocks in some areas too so be careful! We definitely had fun the whole day here! Plan to get there early to get a good spot as you can't stay after sunset as there are no public lights after sunset!

It was the last destination for our tour in bolinao and this was truly amazing. The sun is so perfect we enjoy taking pictures with the majestic sunset. After taking pictures we plunged ourselves to the cool calmn seawater and it was fun. The sand was very nice I even enjoy lying down for a while. This was a lovely experience... awesome nature. The only thing I didnt like in this location is poor cellphone signal coverage lol.
